Bob the Builder: The Movie is a 2022 stop-motion animated film directed by Nicholas Stoller and Geoff Walker, produced by CHF Entertainment and Gigglefish Animation Studios in association with Mattel Films, Point Grey Pictures, and WildBrain, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film takes place sometime after the events of Race to the Finish and serves as the first and only theatrical feature-length Bob the Builder film in the franchise. It also serves as the series finale to the original 1998 series (not counting Ready, Steady, Build!, which is non-canon). It was rated G in the US and Canada by the MPAA and rated U in the UK by the BBFC. It was released in theaters and on Paramount+ on August 19th, 2022. The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $100 million
Summary[]
Bob and his team have been working on their big Sunflower Valley project for months. But one day, as part of their project, Bob and his team have been assigned by Mr. Bentley to build a big eco-friendly hotel made out of recycled materials in Sunflower Valley. This project is so big that not only are they given more time than they normally would, but they also enlisted the help of a new digger machine named Scratch. While building the hotel, Lofty tries to make his own adjustments, but soon becomes stranded from the team in a huge cave and meets a bunch of machines that are also stranded from their owner. With Lofty gone, and not a lot of time left (but still more than enough time), can they solve the mystery of the caves, rescue Lofty and the Stranded Machines, and still get the eco-friendly hotel done on time?
Plot[]

The movie begins with Bob and his team getting ready for their busy day, as usual, doing their usual jobs. As they are working, the team wonders what job they would be doing next. Meanwhile, at the Trump Tower in New York City, a hotel architect presents his idea for an eco-friendly hotel to the chairman of the Trump Organization and contacts Mr. Bentley about it. He decides to head to the Can-Do crew, just as they're finishing up on one of their projects and tells them all about the big idea. However, Bob tells Bentley that they don't have enough workers for the job, and goes off to get additional help for Bob and his gang, as they proceed to get every one of their friends (even Travis, Spud, and Farmer Pickles) to help out on what is to be their biggest project yet.
Bob gets a text message just soon after he finishes his phone call telling him that Two-Tonne is bringing a machine to Sunflower Valley to help him on his very big project and he, along with Scoop, rushes back to their friends to tell them the news that more help is coming. Eventually, Two-Tonne arrives with a skid-steer loader in the car trailer, which turns out to be Scratch. As he gets the chance to meet his friends for the first time, the skid-steer loader wonders what it would be like when Bob gives him his first job. Bob then gives him a tour around Sunflower Valley, teaching him about the basics of construction along the way. After the lesson was done, Lofty comes up with his own idea to help in the project tomorrow as he and the other team members rest up for the night, just as a big digger arrives in Sunflower Valley.
The next day, Bob and the gang start work on the hotel by laying the foundations for it. As they're working on it, Scoop hears a voice from beyond the hotel site. He follows it to find his big cousin, Ace, who is also his best friend and allows him to help him and his teammates with the foundations. As soon as they're all done with the foundations, Bob realizes that he doesn't know how many floors he would need to build for the hotel. Scoop suggests looking in the hotel building instruction book, as he proceeds to do just that. Lofty, meanwhile, thinks about how he would like to build the hotel his own way as he goes off to get some steel beams. Meanwhile, Bob is too busy looking at the same page, again and again, leaving the other machines to go and have fun while Lofty starts to make his own visions of the adjustments he would make to the hotel. Scoop, knowing this, goes with Scratch and Scrambler to get Lofty to take a break from work, but he refuses, leaving the three to go have fun with the other machines while they leave Lofty to do his own thing.
As they were finishing up a game of hide-and-seek, Muck and Roley noticed Lofty making adjustments to the hotel with the steel beams and decide to check up on him. However, by that point, he's completely lost his mind and is going overboard on the adjustments. So they try to get him to stop, but he just knows what they're up to and keeps on going, anyway. This inevitably causes poor Lofty to fall off the cliff, dropping the steel beams in the process. Scoop and Scrambler try to catch him, but they were unsuccessful as he proceeds to fall into the caves, leaving the machines worried about him. Meanwhile, in the caves, Lofty, who is now stranded in the caves, attempts to get out of the cave as soon as possible, only for the exit to seemingly be unreachable. Just then, however, Lofty hears some strange voices and heads to the spot where the voices are coming from to find the Stranded Machines (Donald, Drilly, and Razor), who also got stranded in the caves a long time ago during a mining trip. Lofty is welcomed into the Stranded Machines and will keep searching the caves until they can find a way out.
Meanwhile, Bob and his crew realize that Lofty is gone, all because he was too busy looking at the same page. Bob suggests canceling the project until Wendy reassures him that they'll help him find Lofty, which gives him an idea. The next day, Bob forms a search party to find Lofty as soon as possible, with Travis, Spud, Splasher, Ace, Gripper, Grabber, and Packer as Group 1, while the others are part of Group 2. The two groups try to search for and find the crane machine but to no avail. While Spud and Travis are searching for Lofty, the duo becomes lost in the forest. Bob and the gang, after realizing that they never find Lofty at this rate, decide to split up to make the search easier.
In the caves, the Stranded Machines and Lofty attempt to find a way out, but they end up becoming lost thanks to all the forks in the road, and yet, they still continue to find a way out. At the mountains, Gripper and Grabber nearly fall into the caves but are thankfully saved by Tread, a pickup truck, and Ace, but there's still no sign of Lofty anywhere. Later, Scrambler, Benny, and Scratch arrive at the caves, where the former last saw Lofty falling into the caves. However, the entrance to the caves is blocked, so they decide to find another way to get inside the caves. Meanwhile, Lofty and the Stranded Machines discover the light at the end of the tunnel, only to discover to their shock that it's actually coming from a river of boiling lava, and begin to worry about never escaping the caves and becoming stranded forever.
Just then, a familiar machine appears in the caves, whom Lofty recognizes as Scrambler. Just as Scrambler is about to get his friends to help them out, the lava starts to erupt, putting the machines in potential grave danger. That is until Donny comes up with a way to get out of the caves by using the bridge to get across the lava river. They do so, and they managed to get out of the area with the lava, and just in time, as the bridge collapses and the area becomes blocked off. Both Lofty and Scrambler exit the caves to return to Bob and the crew, but not without taking the Stranded Machines with them, seeing as if they think they should get out, too, like they always wanted to. They return to the hotel building site, where Bob and the gang are waiting. Lofty apologizes to Bob for what he did to the hotel yesterday, as the builder then apologizes to his team for being too focused on the instruction book to even notice his team in the first place.
After Lofty, Donny, Drilly, and Razor all get cleaned up, Bob and the crew resume work on the hotel, as Bob realizes that there is no "average" size for the hotel, so they're going to build a 50-story eco-friendly hotel. The team first does the underground part of the framework, along with the rest of the framework for the hotel. They then add the finishing touches to the hotel, including flooring, walls, windows, ceilings, among other things. They then proceed to make the necessities for the green hotel. Eventually, they finally finish work on the eco-friendly hotel, as they eagerly await its grand opening.
Sometime later, during the grand opening, Mr. Bentley announces that the new manager for the hotel will be Carl Juniper. After opening the hotel to the public, the new hotel manager gives Bob and Wendy along with other people a tour of the new hotel. After the tour is over, Bob proposes to Wendy about marrying her, and she gladly accepts. They later get married and leave for their honeymoon in Florida. 6 years later, Bob and Wendy return to Sunflower Valley, which has since expanded and evolved into a big eco-friendly city. They introduce the machines to their 5-year-old daughter, Brenda, which the machines come to love almost immediately. Roley becomes curious about the Sunflower Valley project, and wonders if the Can-Do Crew has ever finished up on the project. As Bob and the crew look at the eco-friendly city of Sunflower Valley, the builder finally agrees that the project is finished at last and that they can focus on smaller building jobs now that they have an eco-friendly city.
During the credits, everyone has a dance party at Farmer Pickles' field near Bobsville at night, and when it is done, Roley attempts to break the fourth wall, only for Lofty to become shocked as Roley leaves, leaving Lofty all alone at the field. In a post-credits scene, Travis and Spud attempt to find their way back to Sunflower Valley after the dance party only for them to become lost again. As Scratch attempts to show them the way back, he accidentally bumps into a tree with a beehive, causing Spud to be chased by the angry bees as both Travis and Scratch laugh at him.
