Bunny: The Rise of Dylan is a 2022 American computer-animated action comedy film produced by Sony Pictures Animation and Movie Land Animation Studios. The film served the sequel to the first film, Bunny. Directed by Jill Culton, the film sees the return of Tim Allen, Jonah Hill, Chris Wedge and Ryan Potter as the bunnies, along with Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Bebe Rexha, Kelly Marie Tran, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Maya Rudolph, John C. Reilly, Jimmy Wong, Glenn Close, Julie Andrews, and Jack Dylan Grazer.
Bunny: The Rise of Dylan premiered at Hollywood, Los Angeles on June 17, 2022, and was released in the United States on July 8 by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film received positive reviews from critics for its animation, writing, and vocal performances. Bunny: The Rise of Dylan was a commercial success, having grossed $924.3 million on its $80 million budget, making it the fourth highest-grossing film from the studio behind Arcane, Ghost in the Shell, both released in 2022, and 2021's The Hollow.

Development[]
On February 2, 2020, Sony Pictures Animation and Movie Land Animation Studios announced the sequel to their animated film, Bunny. The film began production in August 2020 and concluded on November 23, 2021. In May 2019, the film's title was revealed as Bunny: The Rise of Dylan. It was announced that Jill Culton will be served as a film director, which serves her second collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation on its first feature length film, Open Season and with Tenzing Norgay Trainor on DreamWorks Animation's Abominable.
Casting[]
On December 31, 2020, it was announced that Tim Allen, Jonah Hill, Chris Wedge, and Ryan Potter reprised their roles as the bunnies. On January 23, 2021, Movie Land Animation Studios confirmed that Tenzing Norgay Trainor will voice as Dylan. On April 12, 2021, Bebe Rexha will play the voice role as Lina Jaffe, while RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Maya Rudolph, John C. Reilly, Jimmy Wong, Glenn Close, Julie Andrews, and Jack Dylan Grazer receives their roles. On June 9, 2021, Kelly Marie Tran assigned to voice as Master Wong.
Animation[]
Computer animation services was done by MLDPS San Francisco and its MLDPS studio in Singapore, Vancouver, Sydney, London, Mumbai, Bangalore and Mexico City. Production was done via telecommuting during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, following the temporary closure of MLDPS San Francisco and its studios in other countries on March 15, 2020 and reopened on August 12, 2020 to resume the project six days later.
Music[]
Rupert Gregson-Williams, who is collaborated with Jill Culton and Tenzing Norgay Trainor on Abominable, and Junkie XL will compose the score, replacing James Newton Howard and Daniel Pemberton, which Daniel was busy with the music score for The Bad Guys and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It as announced that Henry Jackman and Lorne Balfe will return to compose the film score. On April 21, 2022, following Tom Parker's funeral, The Wanted is set to compose the film's original songs.
The soundtrack was released on July 1, 2022, by Epic Records, followed by the music score on July 8, 2022, by Sony Classical.
Release[]
Bunny: The Rise of Dylan was originally scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States in December 2022. The film has pushed forward to July 15, 2022, and moved two weeks to August 1, 2022, to avoid competition with Bullet Train, and then to August 5. It is expected to be the first theatrical exclusive release for Sony Pictures since The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019) after The Mitchells vs. the Machines (2021), Wish Dragon (2021), Fatherhood (2021), Totally Spies! (2021) and Vivo (2021) were assigned direct-to-streaming releases on Netflix and Cinderella (2021), Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2022) and Red on Amazon Prime Video in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On April 28, 2022, Bunny: The Rise of Dylan made one final move to July 8, 2022, as an American exclusive theatrical release platform, according to William Renschen. The film is also premiered at Hollywood, such as Dolby Theatre and Grauman's Chinese Theatre, on June 17, 2022. Bunny: The Rise of Dylan will also be released in China the same day as the American film release date. In theaters, the film was accompanied by The Hollow short film, Love at First Flight.

TY's Beanie Babies released a five-year deal with Sony and Movie Land and was released on February 2, 2022.
Home media[]
In April 2021, Sony signed deals with Netflix and The Walt Disney Company for the streaming rights to their 2022 to 2026 film slate, including Bunny: The Rise of Dylan, following the films' theatrical and home media windows.
However, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released Bunny: The Rise of Dylan for digital download on August 30, 2022, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 27.
Video game[]
In January 2022, Sony Pictures Animation and Movie Land Animation Studios announced that a game based on the movie, is in the works titled Bunny: The Video Game. It was released on July 1, 2022, by Outright Games.

In the United States and Canada, Bunny: The Rise of Dylan was released alongside Thor: Love and Thunder and was projected to gross $90–100 million from 4,391 theaters over its four-day opening weekend.
In Australia, the film earned $24.4 million on its first weekend. The film had the best opening-day box office in South Korea with $7.1 million, becoming the fifth-highest released in the country during the pandemic. It earned $5 million on its opening day in China. It earned $24.9 million in the United States and $35 million in Canada. Outside North America, it earned $412.8 million, increasing 35% of its box-office records. A week later, they earned $258.9 million on its fifth weekend.
Critical response[]
On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, 100% of 8.8 critics gave the film a positive review, with an average rating of 43/10. Using a weighted average calculator, Metacritic assigned the film a score of 82 out of 100, based on 39 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".
