Cool Girls: A Very, Merry Cool Year is an American Christmas animated television film produced by Sony Pictures Animation, Movie Land Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Television, Pascal Pictures and The SPA Studios. The film takes place after Cool Girls 2. Jamie Chung, Hailee Steinfeld, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Gal Gadot, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, Christina Hendricks, Ariana Greenblatt, Tyler Posey, Charlet Chung and Leslie Mann reprised their roles from the film.

Cool Girls: A Very, Merry Cool Year was released on Amazon Prime Video on November 23, 2022. Upon release, it received positive reviews from critics for its animation, voice acting and humor.

Plot

On Christmas Eve, Kim is having trouble setting his Christmas tree. Kim slips and falls, and inadvertently destroys all the decorations especially knocking down the Christmas tree including a shelf holding a present he made for Elizabeth. When Elizabeth suddenly arrives, Kim desperately searches for a hidden place for the present (since the broken shelf can no longer stays up) as more of her friends arrive. Although Kim thinks it was an panic accident, Bethany points out that she made a present for Kim, that is a jar.

Henry Jackman, returned from its main film installment, was confirmed to score the film in July 2022. The special's score, composed by Jackman, along with its soundtrack, was released digitally by Sony Classical on November 18, 2022.

Cool Girls: A Very, Merry Cool Year was released on DVD on December 13, 2022 by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Reception

The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported an 90% approval rating, with an average score of 8/10, based on 20 reviews. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the special a score of 78 out of 100 based on six critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
