Fast & Furious Spy Racers is a 2023 American computer-animated auto-racing action film produced by Movie Land Animation Studios for Universal Pictures. Directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane from Blue Sky Studios' Spies in Disguise, with the screenplay from Nicholas Stoller, Rodney Rothman, and Carlos López Estrada, it is the film adaptation of DreamWorks Animation Television's animated television series of its same name and was based on the characters from the Fast & Furious franchise created by Gary Scott Thompson. The film stars the voices of Tyler Posey, Charlet Chung, Jorge Diaz, Camille Ramsey, Luke Youngblood, Manish Dayal, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Tru Valentino, Jimmy Tatro, Paul Donald Wight II and Lanny Joon, reprising their roles from the television series including Avrielle Corti.
Fast & Furious Spy Racers premiered at the SXSW on April 7, 2023 and was released on April 14 in China, and was released on April 21 in the United States. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences, making it the highest-rated movie of the Fast & Furious franchise to date, and was a box-office success, grossing $1.132 billion worldwide against its $90 million budget, making it the third highest-grossing film of 2023. A sequel is set to be released on April 4, 2025, while Echo: A Spy Racers Story, a spin-off series starring Charlet Chung, is set to premiere on Netflix on May 24, 2024.

On May 23, 2018, Universal Pictures announced that an untitled Fast & Furious animated film is in the works, with Movie Land Animation Studios producing the film, making it the second film to be released by other distributors rather than Warner Bros. Pictures or Sony Pictures. On May 23, 2019, it was announced that the film would be released in April 2023. In February 2020, it was reported that a film adaptation of Fast & Furious Spy Racers was officially in development. Nick Bruno and Troy Quane were served as a directors and was overseeing the script by Nicholas Stoller, Rodney Rothman, and Carlos López Estrada. In September 2020, it emerged that the film would be computer-animated.
Casting[]
On January 21, 2021, Movie Land Animation Studios announced that Tyler Posey, Charlet Chung, Jorge Diaz, Camille Ramsey, Luke Youngblood, Manish Dayal, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Tru Valentino, Jimmy Tatro, Paul Donald Wight II and Lanny Joon will join the cast, reprising their roles from the series. In April 2021, Daniel Craig and Avrielle Corti joined the cast as Graham and Rafaela Moreno, who also reprised Corti's role from the series. In July 2021, David Harbour and Ella Purnell joined the cast as Brat and Celia. Dave Thomas, Fred Tatasciore, and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn will also reprise their roles as Cleve Kelso and various voices.
Animation[]
While the pre-production services were created at Movie Land Animation Studios in San Diego, animation services were handled at the Moving Picture Company (MPC) under Technicolor Animation Productions. With a help from Base FX, the film's design was inspired by DreamWorks Animation Television's The Croods: Family Tree and Sony Pictures Animation's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), to make sketch drawings style inspired by the series of its same name. Production was underway in September 2020 during the pandemic, with projects being finished on September 13, 2022.

Music score for the film was composed by Henry Jackman, Rupert Gregson-Williams, Lorne Balfe, Brian Tyler, and Tom Holkenborg, while Skywalker Sound handled audio post-production services. The album is headlined by the lead single — the end credits song, "Older" by Steve Aoki featuring Jimmie Allen and Dixie D'Amelio, released two weeks ahead of the film. The soundtrack was released on April 21, 2023 by Spinnin' Records and Monstercat, the same day as the film's release.

Fast & Furious Spy Racers was theatrically released on April 21, 2023 in the United States in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D, and 2D theater formats. However, the film was first released in China on April 14, 2023 after its premiere at the SXSW on April 7, 2023. In North American theaters, it was accompanied with the short film from the Short Land program, From Box to Box.

Fast & Furious Spy Racers grossed $573 million in the United States and Canada, and $536 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1.132 million. In sharp contrast to any box-office bombs such as Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, TheWrap estimated the film would need to gross $290 million worldwide in order to turn a profit.
In the United States and Canada, Fast & Furious Spy Racers was released alongside Evil Dead Rise, Somewhere in Queens, Beau Is Afraid, Chevalier, and Guy Ritchie's The Covenant, and was initially projected to gross around $100 million from 4,050 theaters in its five-day opening weekend. The film also debuted to gross $46.3 million in its first day weekend. On the second day, it made $55.9 million, which even calculate the profit of $102.2 million, surpassing M3GAN's record.
In China, the film grossed $120 million in its first weekend, making it the best opening weekend. It is also expected to gross around $90 million internationally.

Based on 98 professional critic reviews, the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reports that 8.6% of those reviews were positive, with an average rating of 100/10. Using a weighted average calculator, Metacritic assigned the film a score of 81 out of 100, based on 51 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".

In April 2023, it was reported that Joaquim Dos Santos had been hired to direct the film while the screenwriters Rodney Rothman, Nicholas Stoller, and Carlos López Estrada returned from the first film, following the film's box office success, stated that there would be more films based on their properties, though they did not directly confirm a sequel to Fast & Furious Spy Racers. Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and DNEG were announced as the project's animation partners, after previously working on Fast X. In June 2023, Posey stated that while news on the sequel would come "soon", development on the project had been put on hold due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, saying that it would only resume once "the writers [felt] comfortable moving forward". In November, it was revealed that Universal was making plans to build a larger franchise around the film while also confirming a sequel. The film was in post-production by February 2024. On March 27, 2024, Movie Land CEO Ted V. Miller officially announced a release date of May 16, 2025 in the United States and more dates between May for other territories. On May 7, 2024, the film was pushed up one and a half month earlier to its current date.

In January 2022, Universal and Movie Land confirmed that a Echo spin-off miniseries is in development. Chung will reprise her roles as Echo for the series, which is set for release on the streaming service Netflix in May 2024.
