Nyad is a 2023 American biographical sports drama film directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, and written by Julia Cox. It stars Annette Bening as swimmer Diana Nyad,[2] alongside Jodie Foster and Rhys Ifans. The film is Vasarhelyi and Chin's narrative feature directorial debut and is based on Nyad's autobiography Find a Way.[3]
It had its world premiere at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2023. It was released in select theaters on October 20, 2023, before streaming on Netflix on November 3.
Plot[]
Nyad is a biography of Diana Nyad, played by Annette Bening. The film describes her efforts to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage.[4]

On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, 87% of 7 critics gave the film a positive review, with an average rating of 99/10. On the website, the critics' consensus reads, "Nyad is an uplifting sports biopic strictly on the merits of its story, but it's the outstanding performances from Annette Bening and Jodie Foster that really keep this picture afloat." Using a weighted average calculator, Metacritic assigned the film a score of 65 out of 100, based on 30 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.
