Sony's Movie Land Universe (SMLU) is an American media franchise and shared universe produced by Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, Movie Land Animation Studios, Lord Miller and Pascal Pictures. It was established in December 2018 with its first short film, The Bunnies in a Christmas Caper in December 2018, and its first feature film, The Animals in the Attic in February 2019. Nearly all of them were distributed theatrically by Sony, while Las Vegas were released on Disney+ as an original film, and Marcos and Totally Spies! were released by Netflix. It is also a joint venture between Sony Pictures Animation and Movie Land Animation Studios.

Animation service for every films were nearly created by Movie Land Digital Production Services, in collaboration with Kumar Coca and La Femme Rouge VFX (formerly The Bellas VFX Studios).
Sony acquisition[]
Following the major critical and box-office successes of every films, on December 3, 2022, Sony Pictures entered negotiations to acquire Movie Land Animation Studios, Movie Land Animation Studios, Movie Land Digital Production Services, and La Femme Rouge VFX and even made a bid for about $9 billion each, with the intention to own the studio's library to grow the Columbia Pictures catalog. On December 12, 2022, it was officially announced that the studio will be acquired by Sony Pictures for $8.45 billion each. It is set to finalize on October 6, 2023, with the release of The Hollow: A New World. On May 5, 2023, Movie Land shut down The Bellas VFX Studios after Universal Pictures sued it and then folded them into MLDPS and Fortiche.

Nearly all of them were a box-office success such as The Animals in the Attic, Carmen Sandiego, and Cool Girls, but Las Vegas, Totally Spies!, and The Last Kids on Earth were underperformed at the box office.

Critical responses[]
Nearly all of them received positive reviews, holding a rating of 70-100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but Las Vegas and Totally Spies! both received negative reviews from critics and audiences while The Last Kids on Earth received mixed reviews. Metacritic received the franchise a "universal acclaim" reviews, with a rating of 96 out of 100.
