Super Bowl is a 2021 American computer-animated sports adventure comedy film directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Sony Pictures Animation, Movie Land Animation Studios and Lord Miller Productions. The film stars the voices of Will Arnett, Maya Erskine, Terry Crews, Gemma Chan, Fred Melamed, Jimmy Wong, Zac Efron, David Schwimmer, Jason Sudekis, Damon Wayans, Jr. and Bobby Cannavale.
Super Bowl was theatrically released in the United States on December 17, 2021, by Sony Pictures Releasing. It also became available for online rental on the same day in the United States and Canada. It received mostly positive reviews from critics, who acclaimed the film's animation and screenplay, alongside the praised human characters. It was also a box-office success, grossing over $441 million on a $99 million budget, but was nominated for Movie Land Fun and Excitement Awards for Best Animated Feature, currently lost to Raya and the Last Dragon.

In 2015, plans were announced for a film adaptation of the NFL series. Sony Pictures purchased the film rights with Jon M. Chu signed to direct and Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, Travis Beacham and Rodney Rothman to write. On April 30, 2018, Sony Pictures Animation announced that joined the film as a co-producer, with Original Film and Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Casting[]
In March 2019, Will Arnett and Maya Erskine were frontrunners for the lead voice roles of Stephen and Jamie. Additionally, Terry Crews, Gemma Chan, Fred Melamed, Jimmy Wong and Zac Efron were in consideration for the role in August 2019. David Schwimmer, Jason Sudekis, Damon Wayans, Jr. were joined the cast in December 2019.
Animation[]
The film's computer animation were provided by Movie Land Digital Production Services and was shifted to work remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. The design was set in the football stadium is and where the Chicago Cubs team wins the game against the other team in the opening scene.
Music[]
On November 3, 2019, Henry Jackman, who is collaborated with Jon M. Chu on G.I. Joe: Retaliation and The Chinese vs. The Korean, was hired to write and compose the film's music score. The soundtrack was released on December 15, 2021 by Sony Classical Records.
Release[]
On September 19, 2019, the film was scheduled to be released on July 31, 2020. On November 12, 2019, the release date was pushed to January 29, 2021. On October 27, 2020, the release date was then moved to May 28, 2021, and later to February 25, 2022, all as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. On November 26, 2021, the film made one final move to December 17, 2021, as an online rental to the same day as its theatrical bow in the United States and Canada.
Home media[]
Super Bowl was released on DVD, Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray on March 8, 2022 by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Three and a half years later, it was also founded on Netflix on June 15, 2022.
Video games[]
Super Bowl was adapted into video games in January 2021. Super Bowl: The Video Game was developed by 3D Clouds and published by Outright Games for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows. The game was released on December 3, 2021, and was later released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 25, 2022.

Super Bowl grossed over $441 million worldwide, by adding $100 million in the United States, $220 million in other territories, $10 million in China and $111 million in Canada, which causes the world's best box-office records in the United States.
Critical responses[]
On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, 89% of 213 critics gave the film a positive review, with an average rating of 8.6/10. Using a weighted average calculator, Metacritic assigned the film a score of 80 out of 100, based on 160 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.
