The Hollow: A New World is a 2023 American-Canadian computer-animated adventure film directed by George Gipson, with the screenplay by Nicholas Stoller, Adele Lim, Carlos López Estrada, and Mitch Iverson, and story by Qui Nguyen, Rodney Rothman and Mitch Iverson. A sequel to The Hollow and produced by Sony Pictures Animation, Movie Land Animation Studios, Slap Happy Cartoons, it is based on the television series of its same name created by Josh Mepham, Kathy Antonsen Rocchio, Greg Sullivan, and Vito Viscomi. Adrian Petriw, Ashleigh Ball, Connor Parnall, Diana Kaarina, Jesse Moss, Mark Hildreth and Brian Drummond reprised their roles from its predecessor and the television series, while RuPaul, Riz Ahmed, Elsie Fisher, Luke Youngblood, Kevin Alejandro, Charlet Chung, Ella Purnell, and Neil Patrick Harris were announced as part of the cast.
The Hollow: A New World was released in the United States and Canada on October 6, 2023 by Sony Pictures Releasing, under its Sony Pictures Animation and Movie Land Animation Studios label, after its acquisition by Sony. It received positive reviews from critics for its animation, voice acting and modernization. It was also a financial success, grossing over $723 million against a budget of $90 million.

Inspiration and design[]
Movie Land Digital Production Services, in collaboration with Kumar Coca and La Femme Rouge Animation, returning from its predecessor, who handled its animation services, unveiled that The Hollow: A New World is inspired by the computer animation from the company's Vivo, character design from Skydance's Luck and sets and props design from Disney's Strange World. The set designers at the studio looked to cities like Vancouver, Toronto and the United States.

Henry Jackman, Lorne Balfe, and Tom Holkenborg, returned from the first film, are willing to compose the music score while Rupert Gregson-Williams replaced James Newton Howard from the first film. NOTD released the song "AM:PM", with vocal performance by Maia Wright. The song was featured in the film's end credits. The soundtrack is set to be digitally released on October 4, 2023.

The Hollow: A New World is scheduled for October 6, 2023 in the United States after its acquisition by Sony Pictures. It was originally scheduled for October 27, 2023. Following the success of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it was moved up to its current release date. On July 9, 2023, Sony announced to extend the theatrical windows for The Hollow: A New World in hopes of bringing families back to theaters. During Sony's acquisition of Movie Land, it was accompanied in theaters by the JH Movie Collection: The Great Outdoors short film Crackle Goes Street Racing, marking the series of short's first episode to get a theatrical release. The short was rated PG for "reckless street racing" from the MPA. Just like Mira: A Hollow Story, the film will be released exclusively in theaters.

On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, 96% of 34 critics gave the film a positive review, with an average rating of 8.9/10. Using a weighted average calculator, Metacritic assigned the film a score of 79 out of 100, based on 30 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.
