  • There are certain characters in this movie that are caricatures of The Loud House staff:
    • This episode's writers, Sammie Crowley and Whitney Wetta, appear as the front desk clerk, and a hotel guest respectively.
    • The three guys who crashed the Loud's bedroom were Loud House storyboard artists Kyle Marshall and Miguel Puga, and character designer, Todd Oman.
    • The Spa Worker at the hotel is Diem Doan, but her hair is brown, rather than black.
      • Two of the spa workers giving massages to Lola's stuffed animals are Ken Mu and Joy Adams.
  • One of the promotional posters is a parody of The Simpsons Movie, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, Holes (2003), Terminator 2: Judgment Day, all four "Scary Movie" trilogies, The Iron Giant, Hey Arnold!: The Movie, Meet the Robinsons, Everyone's Hero, Cheaper by the Dozen (2003 film), Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Grease (1978), X-Men (2000 film), Elf, How to Deal, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Atlantis: Milo's Return, The Princess Diaries, The Incredibles, Not Another Teen Movie, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Titan A.E., Miss Congeniality, Digimon: The Movie, Legally Blonde, The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, Rugrats Go Wild, Read It and Weep, Flushed Away, The Wild, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, Jurassic Park, Galaxy Quest, My Little Pony: The Movie (2017), The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, the "Back to the Future" trilogy, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Austin Powers in Goldmember, the first Fast & Furious movie, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, The Rookie (2002), Lilo & Stitch, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Charlie's Angels (2000), Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, What a Girl Wants, Foodfight!, Clifford's Really Big Movie, the "Star Wars" original and prequel trilogies, Agent Cody Banks, Treasure Planet, all three "Spy Kids" movies, Big Fat Liar, Muppets from Space, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, Men in Black, Nickelodeon's The Last Day of Summer (2007), the 2005 remake of Yours, Mine & Ours, and Hotel for Dogs (2009 Nickelodeon movie).
  • This is the first movie of the show produced with new digital inking and paperless techniques, though the movie was still drawn by hand.
    • More specifically, the characters were still hand-drawn, but the animators' drawings were scanned into the computer systems and colored digitally using the Toon Boom Harmony animation pipeline system. And backgrounds were painted digitally using Adobe Photoshop.
  • This is the first Nickelodeon Movies production to be theatrically released exclusively in movie theaters.
  • After Lynn Sr. solves Lori's math problem, he whistles the Loud House Theme Song.
  • The famous Wilhelm Scream is heard when Hank and Hawk are being hit by Lynn Jr.'s sandbag, in which Lincoln carries it for a battle strike.
  • The order in which Lily's siblings show her their possessions while saying something to win her attention:
    1. Lincoln - An Ace Savvy comic ("Come on! It's Ace Savvy!")
    2. Luan - Mr. Coconuts ("Wooden you like to be my friend?")
    3. Lynn - A baseball mitt ("Low and inside!")
    4. Lana - Izzy ("Izzy!")
    5. Leni - An issue of Sixteen 1/2 magazine ("Look at the magazine!")
    6. Lori - A TV remote ("Marisol?")
    7. Lola - A teapot ("Extra sugar!")
    8. Luna - A pair of drumsticks ("Walk this way.")
    9. Lucy - A photograph of Abraham Lincoln ("Abe Lincoln.")

    • Lisa - Herself
    • Lynn - Lynn Sr.
    • Lori - Rita
  • The movie happens in September according to Ronnie Anne's dialogue with Bobby.

    • Dead fish
    • Cheese
    • 3D glasses
    • Rebel Alliance X-wing Starfighter pilot's helmet
  • The McBrides' car plate reads "McRide".
  • Evil Mind 3 plays when Lincoln yells "NOOOOOOOOO!!!". This track is known as "Oh My Neptune!" in SpongeBob SquarePants.
  • The background when Clyde leaves on the sheep is reused from "Toads and Tiaras", where Lana manages to perfect the ribbon dance.
  • The newspaper that Lynn Sr. is reading includes references to Danny Phantom (the "Ghost Teen Hero Danny Phantom Fights Many Ghosts in the Ghost Zone" headline), the Star Wars movies (the "Hot Shot Pilot Luke Skywalker in an X-wing spacefighter zooming around through hyperspace with protion torpedoes to blow up the Death Star" headline), and Adventure Time (the "Finn and Jake Rescuing Princess Bubblegum from the Ice King" headline).
  • The characters are animated in 2D while the backgrounds are hand-painted and the vehicles, planes, helicopters, are animated in CGI and cel-shaded.

  • Innuendo: Lincoln steps in Lily's soiled diaper.
  • Irony:
    • Everyone who requires Lisa for their favors could've done it themselves with the exception of Ms. Shrinivas and her sick students.
    • Lori says it is a hassle getting Lincoln out of the house in the morning, despite that he has been doing that to his sisters throughout the movie.
      • When Lincoln accidentally destroys his diorama of himself and his sisters, and he cries and calls himself stupid for it, Lori, who threw a hissy fit and refused to go to school because Bobby didn't want to wear the tuxedo she picked out for the school dance, tells Lincoln to stop being dramatic.
    • Lynn is angry at Lincoln upon realizing he got her BMX bike stolen and reluctantly uses Lori's old bike.

    • Lincoln is worried that five of his sisters will be mad at him whether he votes for Aloha Beach or Dairyland; but by taking so long to decide, he ends up making all ten of them mad at him.
    • When Ronnie Anne lifts the shower curtain, she sees Sergio, who exclaims the words "I'm naked!". Since parrots, such as Sergio, are known to repeat spoken words, it can be implied that Sergio once peeked in on one of the Casagrandes while they were showering and associated that phrase with the moving of a shower curtain.
    • When the Mango man says "Ay, my mangoes!", the boxes labeled Mango are not chewed on, instead, the cats bite his body.
  • The name "Sharon DeMonet" is a pun on "sharing the money."

Sound Effects[]

The Loud House: The First Movie provides examples of:[]

  • 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: The movie is animated in traditional 2D hand-drawn animation, much like in the series, and extensively used CGI, including:
    • The vehicles (i.e. Vanzilla, Lola's Princess Car, the Santiago family car, the Mercado Van, Royal Woods and Great Lakes City traffic, etc.), planes, helicopters, the express train in the subway at Great Lakes City, and the moving backgrounds are chock-full of obvious 3D effects that clash with the show's normal 2D style.
    • Lincoln has a Fantasy Sequence of him in a TRON lightcycle sequence is done mostly in 3D, like the movie.
    • The Ferris wheel and all of the rides at Dairyland Amoosement Park.
    • A robot, resembling Iron Giant from The Iron Giant, in Lincoln's Nightmare Sequence is animated in CGI while 2D-animated Lincoln and Clyde are outrunned.
    • The Marcus' robot suit for Shadow Dragons from Heavy Gear: The Animated Series is a cel-shaded CGI model while controlling by 2D-animated Lincoln.
    • The P.O.V. Cam is done in 3D.
    • Lynn's new skateboard floating inside a levitating glass case is rendered as a 3D effect.
    • The wormhole in Lisa's interdimensional vortex device is rendered in CGI.
    • Lincoln (who is animated in 2D) has a Fantasy Sequence of him in a Raiders of the Lost Ark opening sequence is done mostly in 3D, like the movie, complete with the CGI temple the golden idol, booby traps and a giant rock boulder.
    • Chandler McCann's robot was rendered in 3D while controlled by Chandler himself is animated in 2D.
    • All of the builds of Lincoln's arcade game display this. The gameplay environments are all CG (such as the Death Star) with 2D sprites of the X-wing ships, TIE Fighters and the Millennium Falcon. The designs for the Death Star trench run with the ships (mostly X-wings, TIE Fighters and the Millennium Falcon) in the footage are from the 2004 special edition release of the 1977 film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
    • One of the customized Fast and the Furious-styled soapbox cars was animated in 3D CGI.
    • During a Shout-Out to Star Wars.
  • 3-D Movie: Notable for being the first American hand-drawn animated movie to be in released in Digital 3D since The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.
  • Accidental Pervert: Lana accidentally sees Luna naked when she walks into the bathroom not knowing she was getting ready to bathe.
  • Acting for Two:
    • Catherine Taber voices Lori, Katherine Mulligan, and Girl Jordan.
    • Nika Futterman voices Luna and Boris.
    • Cristina Pucelli voices Luan and Dante.
    • Jessica DiCicco voices Lynn Jr., Lucy, and Zach.
    • Grey DeLisle voices twins Lana and Lola, Lily, Scoots, Nurse Patti, Cheryl and Meryl.
    • Lara Jill Miller voices Lisa, Liam, and Persephone.
    • Brian Stepanek voices Lynn Sr., Hunter Spector, and Todd.
    • John DiMaggio voices Mr. Grouse, Flip, and Chunk.
    • James Arnold Taylor voices Fritz and Kyle Marshall caricature.
  • Actor Allusion:
    • Lincoln exclaims Charlie Brown's famous "Good grief".
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: Gil deLily's three W's, Walk, Wave, and Work it.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: At least when it comes to her beauty pageant career, which she treats with the seriousness of an adult professional. Otherwise, she's a typical six-year old Spoiled Brat who likes tea parties and fairy tales.
  • Adorkable: All of the Loud siblings have some quirk that makes them endearing, but the ones who really stand out are as follows:
    • Lincoln is a sweet, innocent boy who can even come across as fun-loving and awkward at times. Helps that he has freckles, white hair, and chipped buck teeth.
    • Leni's Kindhearted Simpleton status makes her this.
    • Luna is a kind-hearted rocking girl who plays a Cool Big Sis role to Lincoln out of all his sisters. Adding to her adorkable status is her Youthful Freckles and insecure same-sex crush.
    • Luan is a goofy, fun-loving sweetheart with a passion for puns. To boot, she has a buck tooth overbite and wears braces. She also comes off as this when playing with her ventriloquist dummy, Mr. Coconuts.
    • Lynn Jr. has an energetic demeanor and passion for sports, in addition to her cute Youthful Freckles and short height.
    • Lisa may be a Child Prodigy genius, but she's still a cute and dorky four-year-old whose experiments tend to backfire. Additionally, she wears Nerd Glasses, saggy clothes, talks with a lisp, and sports unkempt hair. She brings this into even more spotlight when her sillier side is exhibited.
    • Lynn Sr., like most cartoon dads, has a quirky and childish personality that makes him charming.
    • Lincoln's best friend Clyde qualifies due to his attempts to win Lori's heart, in addition to his nerdiness, social awkwardness, accident-prone tendencies, glasses, and freckles.
    • A majority of the rest of Lincoln's friend circle in fact qualifies, as a lot of them are nerds with misshapen appearances.
    • Bobby, due to how silly and innocently dumb he is. He's a pinhead, but he's Lori's pinhead.
    • CJ. He's so childish and silly that all you can do is gush when he's around.
    • Carlos, by virtue of being an Absent-Minded Professor.
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Lincoln Loud has "Linc" from all his sisters and the at least partly Fanon "Linky" from the older girls and even Lola.
    • Lori and Bobby call each other "Babe" and "Bobby Boo-Boo Bear", respectively.
    • Bobby calls his little sister Ronnie Anne "Nie-Nie".
  • Age-Inappropriate Dress: Lola regularly wears an oversized dress (pageant sash included), even when out in public, and at her school.
  • Alertness Blink: The two eldest Loud sisters, Lori and Leni. Lori is prone to abusing the word "literally" without end, is a Phoneaholic Teenager, and is thoroughly obsessed with her boyfriend, though it's downplayed as she's the most grounded of the Loud siblings. Leni, meanwhile, similarly abuses the word "like" almost without end, has an undying passion for clothing, and is incredibly ditzy. Hilariously, when Leni is made to imitate Lori, she adopts an incredibly exaggerated Valley Girl accent and visibly crosses her eyes, implying she believes her older sister to fully fit the stereotype.
  • The Alleged Car: Vanzilla, the "family" van, per usual.
  • All Just a Dream: Lincoln does when he realizes the whole thing was a nightmare.
  • All-Loving Heroine: Leni is genuinely nice to everyone, even bullies.
  • All-Stereotype Cast: While Lincoln himself is a pretty normal boy, his sisters seem to each embody a stereotype (bossy oldest sister, dumb fashionista, musician, comedian, athlete, goth, pageant princess, outdoors/wildlife lover, genius, and baby).
  • All Women Love Shoes: She owns a whole closet of shoes but mostly wears sandals.
  • Alliterative List: Like Bathroom Break!!, Lincoln, in the beginning of the movie, has "three P's to go poo and pee": patience, perseverance, and problem-solving.
  • Amateur Film-Making Plot: Lincoln and Clyde try to make their own Ace Savvy movie.
  • Anachronism Stew: Lincoln and his friends watch Storm Hawks, which aired on YTV in Canada from September 2007 to April 2009, yet the series' timeline is set in the 2010s, as if the show is still on the air.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: Lucy side swept bangs tend to switch their direction often.
  • Amusing Injuries: Happens frequently to everyone, with Lincoln being the obvious victim of these.
  • Angry Fist-Shake: Lincoln does when he shakes his fist after Hank and Hawk runs away.
  • Animation Bump: There's more prominent shading, a broader color palette, some of the character movements and frequent use of CGI, but the animation is otherwise the same as the show. The film was animated by Jam Filled Entertainment (one of the animation studios that were used for the show). While a natural consequence of the higher budget, it also has the series was being animated with Toon Boom Harmony, and as a result making heavier use of traditional frame-by-frame animation techniques. Digital ink and paint techniques are also heavily utilized for the character animation, and all of the backgrounds are still hand-painted.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Mr. Coconuts, Luan's ventriloquist dummy.
  • Animated Credits Opening: The main title sequence is used in the intro to Unfabulous, which was done in the style of Angela Anaconda.
  • Animated Outtakes: The DVD and Blu-ray releases of the movie, the animators made a short blooper reel.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Lola is this to Lincoln. While Lincoln has multiple younger siblings, Lola best qualifies given that she's a classic Spoiled Brat.
    • Ronnie Anne's cousin, Carl Casagrande, is this towards her from time to time, but mostly towards his older sister, Carlota, for stealing her cosmetics. Also, Ronnie Anne's new friend, Sidney Chang, has her younger sister, Adelaide.
  • A Day in the Limelight: With such a large cast. While indeed Lincoln is the central character of the series, his sisters and later, parents, friends and, heck, even their pets focused on them.
  • Art Evolution: The film uses more stylized and detailed animation as the show, using digital ink and paint like in the first ten seasons of The Fairly OddParents. This is the first Loud House feature movie to be animated in Toon Boom.
  • Art Shift: The movie was done in traditional animation with Toon Boom like in the series (and is given the cinematic budget like The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie), and it is also the first time that the main characters from Unfabulous (such as Addie Singer, Geena Fabiano, Zack Carter-Schwartz, Ben Singer, Mrs. Sue Singer, Mr. Jeff Singer and Nancy the Dog) was animated in a Loud House art style.
    • The Unfabulous opening title sequence at the beginning is done in the same cutout and Flash animation style as Angela Anaconda.
    • The Knight Rider opening sequence in Lynn Sr.'s fantasy sequence is done in a mix of animation and live-action with 2D-animated Lynn Loud Sr. was driving the indestructable talking automobile K.I.T.T., which was rendered in CGI.
    • Lisa's fantasy sequence during the DeLorean scene from Back to the Future with 2D-animated Lincoln holds a video camera and Lisa controls the DeLorean time-traveling machine car and send Charles into a time period.
    • The sequence with Lincoln (in the show's default art style) catches a Pokémon is done in the anime style of Pokémon: The Series.
    • Lincoln's fantasy sequence with him wearing a virtual gaming outfit with Tron Lines as he was riding a Lightcycle in the famous Lightcycle sequence from TRON.
    • The scene from Drive Me Crazy (1999) in Lola's fantasy sequence is done in a mix of live-action and animation with 2D-animated Lincoln and Lola relaxing on a pool floaties.
    • The exterior shots for all of the vehicles are rendered in 3D CGI that matches the show's normal 2D style.
    • The characters from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Just Jordan, Drake & Josh, Noah Knows Best, The Thundermans, Game Shakers, iCarly, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, The Naked Brothers Band, Zoey 101, Big Time Rush, Victorious, Henry Danger, The Fresh Beat Band, and Unfabulous go from live-action to hand-drawn animated and vice-versa in each other's worlds:
Ned Bigby: Hey, why is everything so... cartoon-y?
Jennifer "Moze" Mosely: What I'd have eight fingers in each hand?
Simon "Cookie" Nelson-Cook: And with the cool jacket has state-of-the-art equipment? Schedule, schedule.
Zoey Brooks: Oh, my gosh! Would you look at this place?
Pheobe Thunderman: Huh. Is this Royal Woods, Michigan?
Max Thunderman: It looks like the coast is clear, Pheobe. We're in Royal Woods, home of the Loud House.
  • Artistic License – Sports: Paula, who has a broken leg and walks around with a crutch, participates in the game.
  • Ascended Extra:
    • Like in the show, this is Clyde's dads’ only focus movie.
    • This is Flip's first big role in the series.
  • Ash Face: Happens to Lincoln by Lisa's chemicals exploding.
  • Aspect Ratio Switch: The theatrical release and television broadcast airings of the movie on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons in USA, and YTV in Canada was in 1.85:1, while the DVD release (except the Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray 3D releases) both use 1.85:1 and 1.33:1.

  • Awesome Art: The animation and backgrounds in the film are downright cool to look at, being designed the same as in the series.
  • Awkward Poetry Reading: Lucy reads Lincoln (who has to use the bathroom quite badly) a poem she made that compares love to water. Naturally, this does not help Lincoln's urgency one bit.
  • Ax Crazy: Luan Loud on April 1st, A.K.A. April Fools'.
  • Baby See, Baby Do: The first time Carlitos is seen, he imitates Rosa's movements and facial expressions as she scolds Hector.

  • Bad Vibrations: The movie parodies the Jurassic Park scene with Lincoln's cup of water vibrates from his sisters' antics outside his room.
  • Banana Peel: Lincoln slips on a banana peel for Luan's pranks.
  • Barbaric Bully: Hank and Hawk are the "big, muscular, not very bright" type of bullies.
  • Battleaxe Nurse: Sue. Good thing Pop Pop inspires the other inhabitants of the retirement home to stand up to her.
  • Batman Parody: One of Lincoln Loud's favorite comic book series to read is Ace Savvy, A playing-card theme crime fighter just like The Dark Knight himself who "deals out some justice" with his partner One-eyed Jack.

  • Behind the Black: Lucy Loud often spooks her siblings in this manner.

    • Lincoln does one when Lynn manages to successfully ride the motorcycle around the park.

  • Brightness Shadows: Like in The Fairly OddParents, the movie does this when invoking Scary Flashlight Face in broad daylight. It's also done more naturally during occasional explosions that are meant to look cinematic, casting a shadow that would not exist.
  • Brick Joke: Whenever cookies or cat treats are mentioned, Lincoln or Clyde get tackled by either the sisters or the cats.
  • Bucket Booby-Trap: As a Running Gag, the bucket that Luan tied it to the ropes and attached on a tree as Lincoln fell into a trap and gets covered in green slime.

    • This movie is the same of the episode "The Loudest Mission: Relative Chaos".
    • Lola post-skunking looks similar to Lola post-getting sick.
    • Blarney the Dinosaur, who was previously seen in "For Bros About to Rock", returns in this movie.
  • Calling Your Bathroom Breaks:
    • Lana says she has to take a leak, and Lola says she needs to tinkle in another.

    • Luan refers to her ventriloquist Mr. Coconuts as her "soulmate"
  • Carry the One: Lincoln reminds Lisa to carry a one.
  • Cartoon Throbbing: Lincoln begans to panic and he punches the metal pole only to wince in pain, his fist becomes red and comically large, to illustrate how it's swollen and throbbing.

The Loud sisters, Lynn Sr., Rita, Clyde, Liam, Rusty, Zach, Girl Jordan, Pop-Pop, Principal Huggins, Mrs. Johnson, Ronnie Anne, Bobby and the Casagrandes, Laird, Sameer, Nikki, Casey: (winces as Lincoln rubs his palms) "Ouch!"
      Carl: "Ah, that's gotta hurt!"
      Lola: "My bad."
Lynn: "That did explain why we needed a new set of boxing gloves."
      Addie Singer: "It's okay, Lincoln."
Lincoln Loud: "This would wear off after Lisa zapped me with a laser with her X-ray machine."
  • Catapult Nightmare: Lincoln wakes up from his nightmare this way.
  • Cats Are Mean:
    • Zig-zagged. Cliff sometimes acts mean, but he's mainly nice. Cleopawtra (Clyde's cat) is feisty, but nice deep down, and Nepurrtiti (his other cat) is not mean at all.
    • There's a gang of vicious alley cats outside the bodega. They end up tearing the place apart when Ronnie Anne and her mother accidentally leave the door open.
  • Cel Shading: All of the vehicles and moving backgrounds are CGI, and fits perfect with the show's traditionally-animated human and animal characters and landscapes.
  • Chaotic Car Ride: There's a chance that, whenever the Loud siblings are riding in Vanzilla, are them acting rowdy enough to cause chaos.
  • Character Catchphrase:
    • Lincoln tends to say "But in a family as big as mine..." when talking to the audience. He's also said, "Let's do this" on occasion.
    • Whenever Luan makes a pun, she usually follows it up by laughing and saying, "Get it?" Occasionally, when she makes a pun in a serious moment, she will add, "But seriously..."
    • Lily frequently says, "Poo-poo!", and it's not just whenever she soils herself.
    • Leni - "OMGosh!", to the point where it's her campaign slogan in "Electshunned."
    • Lucy sometimes says "Sigh."
  • Character in the Logo: Like Unfabulous, the logo from the show drops down as Lincoln Loud lands on it while reading his Ace Savvy comic, then Lisa pulls the "The Louds' First Movie" title from the left as the Nickelodeon logo fades in, Charles snatches Luna's guitar from the left, and Lily waddles from the right.
  • Character Narrator: The movie is narrated by one of the show's main characters, Lincoln Loud.
  • Character Tics: Leni walks with her hands drooping down in front of her and her eyes shut.
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Parody: Lincoln knows why the candy factory he was renovating had a chocolate fountain.
  • Cheated Angle:
    • Zigzagged with Lola Loud, whose side-swept bangs sometimes change the direction in which way they are combed when she turns her head.
    • Similar to Lola, Nana Gayle's big curl in her hair sometimes turns with her head in addition to switching which direction it faces.
  • Cheeky Mouth: This fairly regularly shows up any time someone is talking when viewed from the side.
  • Cheerful Child:
    • Lana is characteristically a happy 6-year-old, especially when in the presence of gross surroundings.
    • Darcy, one of Lisa's classmates, is a typical playful Girly Girl.
    • Lincoln Loud himself is a quick-witted imaginative and fun-loving kid, which especially adds up when he roleplays as Ace Savvy.
    • Generally, Lily's pretty cheerful.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Ice in the pants.
  • The Chessmaster: Lincoln was being the "man with a plan" includes this kind of speciality.
  • Chick Magnet: Girls who spend time with Lincoln find themselves having a good time.
  • Childish Older Sibling:
    • Leni, the second-eldest Loud sibling, is ditzy and uncoordinated, so she comes off as less mature than most of her nine younger siblings, especially Lincoln (who's the middle kid and is very strategic and logical) and Lisa (who's the second-youngest and a Child Prodigy).
    • Because Lisa is a genius and because she hardly expresses emotion, even the most mature of her older siblings sometimes appear childish in comparison. Lucy, the fifth-youngest and another stoic, sometimes makes her older siblings appear childish in comparison but not as often as Lisa.
    • Lynn Jr., the fifth-eldest, can sometimes act childish (like being a bad winner and riding her bike indoors) but usually acts her age, and again, she more only seems childish in contrast to her more mature younger siblings.
  • Child Prodigy:
    • Lisa Loud is only four and is mentioned to have already finished school up through getting a PhD (a type of doctorate degree). She still goes to kindergarten however, seemingly for no other reason than because she enjoys the nap times and snacks available.
    • David is in Lisa's kindergarten but he can do chemistry. He's not into biology like Lisa, but it's still pretty impressive.
  • Circling Birdies: The "stars" version, including the same variant from The Fairly OddParents, is used.
  • Climb, Slip, Hang, Climb: In a Shout-Out reference to Mission: Impossible II, Lynn Jr. has her fantasy sequence of her rock climbing without ropes.
  • Cloudcuckoolander:
    • Leni, while mostly The Ditz, is also pretty eccentric too, with Lincoln even having to resort to using "Leni speak" to make her cooperate.
    • Luan is a huge goofball who unleashes many pranks at the most unexpected of times.
    • Even for a girl her age, Lana's obsession with unsanitary particles and bringing home animals is a bit too strange. It gets to the point where she even collects poop.
  • Collapsing Lair: During Lincoln's fantasy sequence in a Stock Footage of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, a large building getting destroyed part of the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors as Lincoln runs off after he says "Ah, right on que."
  • Collective Groan: All the Loud siblings do this every time Luan cracks a pun.
  • Color-Coded Characters:
    • The opening shades each of the Loud sisters in a specific color, which is reflected in their character design:
      • Lori is light blue.
      • Leni is seafoam.
      • Luna is purple.
      • Luan is yellow.
      • Lynn is red.
      • Lucy is gray.
      • Lana is blue.
      • Lola is pink.
      • Lisa is green.
      • Lily is lavender.
      • Meanwhile, Lincoln himself is linked to orange.
      • These colors also correspond with the clothes the siblings usually wear (e.g. Lori wears a light blue shirt and eyeshadow, Leni a seafoam dress, Lucy wears black and white clothes, Lana wears grayish blue overalls, Luan a yellow skirt, etc). Lily's the only one whose color doesn't match with what she usually wears (a single white diaper), but she does often carry a lilac blanket.
      • The parents also have associated colors too. In this case, it's dark green for Lynn Sr. and coral for Rita.
    • The Santiago/Casagrande children from The Casagrandes:
      • Bobby - Green
      • Ronnie Anne - Purple
      • Carlota - Light blue
      • CJ - Yellow
      • Carl - Red
      • Carlitos - White
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure:
    • Lincoln gets his pants pulled down by a bully (which is Chandler McCann) at school. There's also the Running Gag of him reading comic books in his undies.
    • Luna splits her pants.
    • Lana is forced to flee the bathroom with her overalls down after being ambushed by Luna while in the bathtub.
    • Bobby and his grandfather suffer this. Grandpa’s pants get pulled down by the cats, and Bobby then removes his own pants to show he’s wearing the same kind of Goofy Print Underwear.
  • Comforting Comforter: Lori does this for Lincoln, with a blanket.
  • Commercial Pop Up: To plug the theatrical release of this movie, Nickelodeon had these with Lincoln Loud (which was animated in 2D hand-drawn animation) coming up and doing a short as one of these bugs. They diverted the attention from the show to Lincoln doing Lisa's experiments anywhere on the screen at any time. He did stuff like modifying the original bug at first, but it grew more clever. During a Nickelodeon USA, Nicktoons USA, and YTV Canada airings of the episodes from the first and second seasons of The Loud House, Lincoln came in, pulls out Lisa's scientific remote, hit a green button, and for several seconds the episode turned into puppets, a Robot Chicken-style stop-motion sequence, a video game sequence and some animated art styles such as The Fairly OddParents, The Powerpuff Girls 1998, the Ocean Group-produced dub of Futari wa Pretty Cure, the Total Drama series, , Pokémon and Angela Anaconda.
  • Company Cameo:
    • Lincoln saw a flying orange blimp with the words "NICKELODEON" written in the 1991-2009 logo font.

    • In this scene shows Lincoln, Clyde, Rusty, Zach, Liam, Lynn and Lisa watching Storm Hawks on YTV in Canada.
    • Lincoln and Clyde sees Henry and June from Kablam! in the hallway.

    • One of the items in Lincoln's room is Timmy Turner's pink hat, Cosmo and Wanda's magic wands and a magic TV remote from The Fairly OddParents.
    • Lincoln's "survival guide" tips around Royal Woods Elementary School is from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.

  • Computer-Generated Images: This is Nickelodeon's only traditionally-animated film to use CGI as in the TV show. CGI was used for the vehicles (i.e. Vanzilla, Lola's Princess Car, the Santiago family car, the Mercado Van, Royal Woods and Great Lakes City traffic, etc.), Chandler McCann's robot, the wormhole in Lisa's interdimensional vortex portal device, and the express train in the subway at Great Lakes City.
  • Concussions Get You High: After Lincoln hits his head on a tree branch and falls down, Lincoln has stars circling his head.
  • The Conscience: Due to being roommates and having a lot in common, Lori keeps Leni in place and acts nurturing in response to her stupidity.
  • Consistent Clothing Style: Many characters have a tendency to wear certain colours, which is helpful for distinguishing the Massive Numbered Siblings at the center of the story:
    • Downplayed for Lincoln. He wears an orange polo shirt every day and also owns orange swim trunks, an orange tie, and orange pyjamas. However, when he changes his clothes, he's often not wearing orange.
    • Lori tends to wear sky blue— it's the colour of her tank top, her golf shirt, her bikini, her winter coat, and several of her nighttime outfits.
    • Leni wears many seafoam green garments, including her dress, nightie, and swimsuit. Her winter outfit is mainly pink, although the hat and boots are also seafoam green.
    • Luna favours purple even more than the other characters favour particular colours— her everyday clothes are all different shades of purple (save her accessories) and if she's wearing different clothes for whatever reason, she's relatively likely to still be decked out entirely in purple.
    • Luan likes yellow clothes— her skirt and scrunchie are both yellow, as are her pyjamas and swimsuit.
    • Lucy, being a goth, tends to dress in black, white, and grey.
    • Lola wears a lot of pink. In addition, both her dress and her nightie are floor-length.
    • Lisa seems to have a preference for light green. Her sweater is light green, as is her swimsuit, and in the winter, everything she wears is light green right down to her goggles.
    • Downplayed with Clyde. He leans significantly towards dark blue, as it's one of the two colors of his regular shirt, as well as the color of his night attire and formal suit jacket. However, like Lincoln, he deviates from this coloring quite a lot.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Lincoln wears his grown-up suit.

  • Cool Bike: Lynn's Sick Bike, Luan's Unicycle, Lori's Pink Bike, and Clyde's Tandem Bike.
  • Cool Big Sis:
    • Luna is established as one in her first appearance in the pilot. She's very mellow and has a good grip on reality, essentially cementing her as the sister with whom Lincoln gets along the most.
    • Lori has shown herself to be incredibly loving and caring of all ten of her siblings whenever she lets go of her irrational selfishness and egotism. She's in fact gradually veering out of her default Big Sister Bully role and more into this one as the series progresses.
    • Leni is incredibly helpful and kind to her siblings in spite of her ditzy nature.
    • Luan, despite behaving like a candy-riddled child most of the time, can very much be this to her younger siblings whenever they are in need of support. She also has a reputation as being popular with children, courtesy of performing for their birthday parties.
    • Lynn, despite being rough at times, can be this to her younger siblings, playing with them, never hesitating to support them with their problems and being protective of them.

  • Covered in Gunge: Lincoln gets covered in green slime, which is a Nickelodeon tradition.
  • Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears:
    • The farmer covers his pig's eyes when Lincoln rides by them on his hand-me-down bike.
    • Lincoln does this when he covered Lily's eyes from Leni wearing her slave Princess Leia outfit.
    • Addie Singer does this when she covered Lincoln's eyes.
  • Crack!* "Oh, My Back!": Lynn cracks her dad's back while giving him a massage. He cries out in pain at first, then says, "Actually, that feels great."
  • Crazy Cat Lady: Ruth is a bit eccentric and has a lot of cats.
  • Creating Life: Lisa creates a sentient trash monster in "Chore and Peace".

  • Daydream Surprise: Lynn imagines herself getting the football at the game and getting run in for a touchdown.
  • Death Course: The Raiders death course is recreated in Lincoln's Fantasy Sequence.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: The movie has two examples: Lori, who used to be a mere bully to her younger sisters and brother before she became a more friendlier person as the series progressed, and Lola, a bratty pageant girl who shows more signs of kindness.
  • Delinquent Hair: Stan and Steak Stankco both have mohawks.
  • The Diaper Change: Lily, who was a baby by then, occasionally had her diaper changed.
  • Diaper Check: Lily's basic schtick. It's justified since she is a baby and is too young to be potty-trained yet. While most people can smell it and don't need to check, sometimes they need to check.
  • Disco Sucks: Lincoln mentions that if his dad found out that he destroyed his disco ball, he'd be as dead as disco.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Happens quite a bit when any characters (such as Lincoln and Clyde) using this line from Johnny Test.

  • Divergent Character Evolution: Quite a few characters started off the same, but gradually became different from each other.
    • Lincoln and Clyde have always been seen as so similar to each other that it has attracted a lot of criticism from some fans who deem them an uninteresting duo.
    • Inverted with Lucy and Haiku, who still seem to be more or less the same goth girl archtype, not that this is an inherently bad thing, as the writers avoid this becoming a problem by not having many scenes featuring just Lucy and Haiku.
    • Luna and Sam are definitely a noteworthy example. Sam was introduced as a Satellite Love Interest and seemed to be just the same rocker chick character as Luna.
    • Lynn and her sports bestie, Margo.
  • Diving Save:
    • For instance, Lincoln jumps as he dives and pushes Clyde out of the way as the flying toilet crashes into Lincoln and Clyde's treehouse window in the same style from the Storm Hawks episode "Gale Force Winds".
    • Addie Singer dives in and saves Lincoln from Hank and Hawk.
  • Dodgeball Is Hell: Downplayed, but it's evidently not the favorite sport of Lincoln and his friends.
  • Don't Explain the Joke: Luan when she tells a pun about the mousetraps she laid near the basement door. She then proceeds to stumble into a whole bunch of them to trap Hank and Hawk.
Luan: "These will put in "ro-DENT" in the burglar's plans!" (laughs) "Get it? They're mousetraps!"
  • Dramatic Gun Cock: Parodied. Before firing the hot sauce at Chandler, and Hank and Hawk (The Hazeltucky Hockers), Lincoln begins by grabbing Lisa's laser cannon and cocking him like a rifle.

  • Dude Magnet: Ms. DiMartino, who accidentally swoons the whole male student body of the school, including Lincoln and Clyde.
  • Dye Hard: Possibly in the case of Lincoln Loud's Goth sister, Lucy, who has black hair while their parents and the rest of their sisters have either blonde like their mom or brown hair like their dad (Lincoln has white hair, which he apparently inherited from his maternal grandfather). It's never explained how Lucy has black hair (much like how it's never truly explained why Lincoln has white hair), but assuming that it's her natural hair color, she may have inherited it from her great-grandmother, Harriet (who, as shown in pictures, is the spitting image of Lucy).
  • E = MC Hammer: Lisa writes an equation in the dust on the van to deduce where the sweet spot is and why it's so sweet.

    • Lincoln used to take off his pants a lot at age one. Now, he reads comics in his undies.
    • Lucy used to stare at people in a creepy way and didn't cry much as a baby and buried the family's dead hamster at age one. Now, she's a Goth who barely expresses emotion.
    • Lana has been shown to love mud as a toddler and when she was a baby, she cried until they got to keep their cat, dog, and canary, hinting at her Animal Lover personality.
    • Lola has loved to give things makeovers since she was one.
    • Lisa started doing experiments when she was one.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: Lynn Sr. posts on SwiftyPic a picture of young Lori during her "awkward stage", in which she used to wear nerdy glasses and braces and had acne. Lincoln thinks old photos are harmless, until his father posts a picture of him as a baby from when he was potty training.

  • Four-Fingered Hands:
    • The movie uses the show's default style, in which the characters are depicted as having four-fingered hands and four-toed feet. Interestingly, in two separate cases with characters mentioned to have Extra Digits, they're shown with eleven toes instead of nine. Lisa and Aunt Ruth both have an extra toe, so they're depicted with five-toed (and six-toed in close-ups) feet rather than four toes like other characters.

    • Obviously so for Lola. Her interests in princesses and beauty pageants are stereotypically feminine.
    • Leni definitely seems to be one of the most stereotypically feminine Loud sisters, along with Lola. She's bubbly, ditzy, light, and fashion-obsessed.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Lola Loud is arguably the most feminine out of all ten of Lincoln's sisters. She loves the color pink and is obsessed with princesses, to the point where she regularly dresses like one! She also likes throwing tea parties, competes in beauty pageants, prefers keeping her appearance clean, plays with dolls, and has a lot of stuffed animals. However, she also finds Lincoln's class tarantula cute (though one could interpret this as her being so girly she'll find anything cute).

    • Mrs. Loud's first name is revealed to be Rita.
  • The Glomp: Addie Singer from Unfabulous share many hugs of this variety to Lincoln Loud.

  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!:
    • The cast have a Share Phrase of "Dang it!", said by at least one character when something unpleasant is going on. This makes sense for characters at 11-year-old Lincoln's age on down, but it gets amusing when the teens and adults use it.
    • When Lincoln panics over losing his roller skates, he moans, "Crud, crud, crud!".
  • Greed: Grandpa Casagrande seems to be kind of a cheapskate.
  • Green Is Gross: When something smells bad, there's a green cloud.

  • Gross Gum Gag: One of the seats in Vanzilla is covered in chewed gum, and thus nobody wants to sit in it.
  • Gross-Out Show: The movie has quite a lot of poop and fart jokes as in the show. When it's not either of those things, expect it to feature something else that's gross like boogers or, on occasion, puke.

  • Has Two Thumbs and...: Clyde says, "What has two thumbs and totally wants to hang out with his best friend! This guy!".

  • Helping Another Save Face: Lucy reveals that she was the one who clogged the toilet with a book she's embarrassed about reading since it's Sickeningly Sweet.

  • Hidden Depths:
    • Bobby is shown to have quite a bit of business-savviness when working at his grandpa's bodega, which is probably due to him working so many part-time jobs (one of which was at a supermarket). • Lincoln shows a knack for math, art and multicultural social studies.

  • "I Can't Look!" Gesture: Leni can't stand to look at Luna in the shower and Lana runs to her and Lola's room, so she puts cucumbers slices over her eyes.
  • I Choose to Stay: Ronnie Anne decides to stay in Great Lakes City with her family.
  • I Warned You: Rita and Lynn Sr. tells their son that they warned him not to go to see Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
  • Iconic Item: Most of the sisters own an object or more that they are closely associated with and practically define their personality:
    • Lori - Her phone
    • Leni - Her sunglasses
    • Luna - Her guitar
    • Luan - Mr. Coconuts, her Whoopee Cushion, her pies, and her microphone
    • Lucy - Her poetry, her bust of Edwin the Vampire
    • Lana - Her cap, her pet frog (Hops), and her wrench
    • Lola - Her tiara
    • Lisa - Her experiments
    • Lily - Her blanket
  • Idiosyncratic Cover Art: The promotional posters for the movie shares the same posters as one of the famous movies and TV shows:
    • The Back to the Future trilogy:
      • The first one has Lincoln, in his regular clothes, stepping out of the DeLorean and staring at his watch.
      • The second movie adds Lisa, also looking at her watch, and has the DeLorean in hover mode.
      • The third movie adds Darcy, has them in their Western clothes, and the watches are now pocket watches.
    • The poster has an eerily similar layout to the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius example listed shortly below, which was also part of the Nickelodeon brand.
    • The poster has the same layout as the Canadian fantasy animated series Storm Hawks on YTV.
  • Impact Silhouette:
    • Lincoln makes a dent in his own bedroom wall after trying and failing to reach his window via trampoline.
  • Improbable Age: Lola is adorable, being a 6 year old pageant princess and all. Don't get on her bad side, though. She can get very angry and dangerous. She is also generally a lot tougher physically and mentally than most Bratty Princess-types you find in cartoons. While not quite brainy in high brow faculties like Lisa and Lincoln are, the kinds of tricks that would work on stock bratty little girl characters in other cartoons would have a much harder time working on Lola as she is less gullible, foolhardy and oblivious to the world around her than even many adults around her. She does have a weakness to shiny, pretty and glittery things, though.
  • Indy Escape: During Lincoln's fantasy sequence in a Stock Footage from Raiders of the Lost Ark, when Lincoln is successfully stolen a treasure from an ancient temple, only to be confronted with a giant rolling rock trap that he has to sprint from in order to avoid being crushed.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Lori does this when she was worried that Lincoln has a black eye by Chandler, complete with runny mascara.
  • Interdimensional Travel Device: Lisa used her Interdimensional Vortex Portal device to transport any TV show/video game/movie characters.
  • In-Character Commentaries: The DVD and Blu-Ray releases has commentary by the characters from The Loud House and The Casagrandes and Unfabulous, similar to MST3K.
  • In-Series Nickname: Lana and Lori have both referred to her as Lols.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Lynn Sr. is basically Brian Stepanek in animated form; he even shares Brian's bald portion of hair dead-on.
  • Ironic Echo: "LISA'S CHEMICALS!"; first delivered by Lynn Sr. and Rita.
  • Irritation Nightmare: Leni often has nightmares about out-of-fashion clothes, which she seems to find legitimately scary.
  • It's All About Me: Justified for Lola, because she's only six. However, she's selfish even by the standards of most kids her age.
  • It's All My Fault:
    • Lincoln realizes that the whole mess was his fault remember he brought Frank home knowing Leni and Dad was afraid of spiders.
    • Lincoln tells Addie that it was his fault for panicking after the whole turn of the century cream puff incident was all Luan's idea.
  • It's a Small Ride: Dairyland Amoosement Park features the "Seas of Cheese" ride, featuring animatronic cows singing the praises of lactose.
  • It's Quiet… Too Quiet: Typically, the Loud family, with the exception of Lucy and, to an extent, Lincoln, lives up to their surname, so if they're being quiet, it's a bad sign.
  • I've Got an X, and I'm Not Afraid to Use It!:
    • Used by Lynn Jr. to Hank and Hawk.
Lynn: I've got a sports football, and I'm not afraid to use it!
[Hank and Hawk gasps while Lincoln holds a tracking device.]
    • Rosa Casagrande has la chancla and she's not afraid to use them!
  • Jackhammered Conversation: Lola's insulting message to Chandler is censored by Leni's hair dryer.
  • Jerkass: Chandler and his friends, who exploit Lincoln for free stuff because they know he wants to get into their good graces.
  • Jet Pack: Lincoln is testing an Ace Savvy jet pack made by Lisa.
  • Jump Scare: Lucy startled her siblings, especially Lincoln.
  • Kid Has a Point: Lisa comes up with the idea to use the Interdimensional Vortex Portal device to activate it with the push of a button.
  • Kids Driving Cars:
    • Lola's Princess Ride might be a pink toy, but not only she drives it around the house but also around Royal Woods on the street. She even use actual gas from Flip for it.
    • Lincoln Loud has his own car, which is a motorized orange toy, who drives it around the house and around Royal Woods on the street.
  • Kids Shouldn't Watch Horror Films: Lincoln wants to watch Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, but soon realizes that he may have been in over his head as Rita told her son that he would have nightmares.
  • Kiddie Kid:
    • Downplayed with 11-year-old Lincoln Loud, who mostly acts his age, but owns a stuffed rabbit named Bun-Bun, which he cares for with an affection most kids his age would have outgrown.
    • Leni, the second of Lincoln's older sisters, is 16, but due to being The Ditz and having a short attention span, she's often entertained by things commonly used for small children.
    • Luan is 14 years old, yet has a fondness for puns, pranks, clowns, novelty toys, and childlike comedy in general.
    • 13-year-old Lynn is not above throwing tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants, and exhibits very poor sportsmanship for a Passionate Sports Girl.
    • CJ Casagrande is another 13-year-old who likes playing pirates with his family and Lincoln. In this case, CJ's behavior is justified because he has Down Syndrome.
    • Lincoln's best friend Clyde McBride also has a shade of this, since he's a fan of Blarney the Dinosaur (an Expy of Barney & Friends), which is aimed at a much younger age demographic than him.
  • Kiddy Coveralls:
    • Lana is a rambunctious young Tomboy whose signature outfit includes overalls. She's the Wrench Wench who fixes the plumbing and electrics around the house, in addition to doing repairs on the family van.
  • The Killjoy:
    • The show has the Loud family's grumpy neighbour Mr. Grouse, who often tells the family to stop having fun and goofing around because he finds them too... well, loud.
    • While Lori isn't usually an example, she becomes one if she's left in charge, disallowing her siblings to goof around like usual to the point of being nicknamed the "Queen of No".
  • Kindhearted Simpleton:
    • Leni's usually a nice girl despite not being that smart.
    • Bobby's kindness more than makes up for his stupidity.
  • The Klutz: Leni frequently does when she's pretty clumsy, often bumping into the wall and falling downstairs.
  • Knuckle Cracking: Lynn Loud does this.
  • Laser Blade: The lightsabers are the iconic weapons of the Star Wars movies.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Hank and Hawk getting utterly beaten in a football game can be seen as this for them.
  • Late for School: Like the show, the movie centers on the Loud kids (except Lily) frantically getting ready for school.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Lincoln starts the movie by telling the viewer "You've been with us a while."
    • The characters from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Just Jordan, Drake & Josh, Noah Knows Best, The Thundermans, Game Shakers, iCarly, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, The Naked Brothers Band, Zoey 101, Big Time Rush, Victorious, Henry Danger, The Fresh Beat Band, and Unfabulous notices the depth is gone when in the hand-drawn 2D animated Loud House universe.
  • Leitmotif:
    • A certain theme dubbed "Pop Punk", is used for the title cards.
    • "Battle March" is used for serious moments, or moments parodying the military.
    • "Emergency Force" is used for suspenseful scenes.
    • "Gipsy Speed" is used for scenes that are either chaotic, montages, or both.
    • "In Tune for Love" and "Magic by Candlelight" are used in sad moments.
    • "Old Sleepy Head" is used for emotional moments.
    • "Sneeky" is used for characters trying to be sneaky.
    • "Straight from Hell" is used as a scare chord.
    • A mariachi music play whenever a scene changes or when there's a montage.
  • Lens Flare: Occasionally used throughout the movie.
    • All of the cars during the night-time scenes, due to the headlights.
  • "Let's Watch Our Show" Plot: The DVD and Blu-Ray releases has involving characters from Unfabulous, The Loud House and The Casagrandes watching the movie providing MST3K style commentary.
  • Like Is, Like, a Comma: Leni uses the word "like" a lot, which the others find annoying.
  • Likes Older Women:
    • Clyde (who's 11) has a crush on Lincoln's oldest sister, Lori (who's 17).
      • Same thing with Carl (who's 6 or 8).
    • All the sisters except Lily get crushes on Hugh, who's in his twenties.
    • Haiku, who's about eleven, likes a centuries-old (fictional) vampire.
    • Lincoln (who's 11) has a crush on Main Character Addie Singer from Unfabulous (who's 13).
  • Limited Wardrobe: Though most of the main and recurring ones have worn many outfits, including different ones for the same occasion (e.g. Lori's night attire changed multiple times throughout the series), all of the human characters always wear the same respective regular outfits. In Lincoln's case, several shots of his room show that the only regular clothes he has in his closet are orange polo shirts and jeans.
  • "Lion King" Lift: Parodied by Lincoln as he holds up Lily from his bed.
  • Little Professor Dialogue: Lisa's four and speaks using large and technical words. It comes with the territory of being a Child Prodigy.
  • Lovable Nerd: While her stoic nature and Mad Scientist tendencies can be creepy for a four year old, she's a very likable and endearing character.
  • Love at First Sight: Main Character Addie Singer from Unfabulous when she sees Lincoln.
  • Luminescent Blush:
    • Lincoln himself does this whenever he sees Addie Singer.
    • After Lana accidentally walks in on Luna naked, she can't help but turn red in embarrassment with Lola, which lasts for white a while.
  • The Mall: Royal Woods Mall is a large shopping mall as in the TV show.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: The movie is about the misadventures of Lincoln Loud and his ten sisters, from the show.
  • Mature Younger Sibling:
    • 11-year-old Lincoln Loud, the only boy in the family, usually serves as the Only Sane Man among his circle of ten sisters, who, both the younger and older ones, usually start fights with him, blaming him for their own faults, and rub their personality quirks in his face while he's trying to go about his day. Sometimes he'll be the one to cheer up one of his older sisters whenever they face a problem.
    • Lisa is the most intelligent of the Loud siblings despite being the second-youngest and frequently uses Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness, as opposed to her other siblings' more casual diction. She's also very calm, which makes her older siblings seem more immature, as they're all rather emotional (besides the similarly stoic Lucy). Played with to an extent, though, as there are several things she doesn't know how to do without help from an adult, given her young age.
  • May the Farce Be with You: The entire fight between Lincoln and Chandler in this movie is reminiscent of Star Wars lightsaber battles, complete with the football field in Lynn Jr's sports game, a "Duel of the Fates" music, and lightsaber noises are used.
  • The Maze: The Louds, Clyde, Addie, Geena and Zack are running through a maze to search for treasure.
  • Medium Blending:
    • This movie utilized both traditional hand-drawn (as in the TV show) and computer generated animation in almost equal measure to truly impressive effect.
    • The characters from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Just Jordan, Drake & Josh, Noah Knows Best, The Thundermans, Game Shakers, iCarly, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, The Naked Brothers Band, Zoey 101, Big Time Rush, Victorious, Henry Danger, The Fresh Beat Band, and Unfabulous are Medium Blended when crossing into the "other" show's universe. Twist, Marina, Shout, Kiki, Addie Singer, Ben Singer, Jeff Singer, Sue Singer, Zack Carter-Schwartz, Geena Fabiano and Nancy the Dog falling like cardboard pop-ups upon arriving in the Loud House world.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: The characters from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Just Jordan, Drake & Josh, Noah Knows Best, The Thundermans, Game Shakers, iCarly, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, The Naked Brothers Band, Zoey 101, Big Time Rush, Victorious, Henry Danger, The Fresh Beat Band, and Unfabulous, which all produced at Nickelodeon Studios, shifts from live-action into hand-drawn animation in the Loud House universe.
  • Menacing Hand Shot: When Lincoln confronts Chandler in the football field, just before the battle begins there's a close-up of Lincoln as he grabs the lightsaber on his hand and he ignites it.
  • Middle Child Syndrome: Flat-out placed in this position. Lincoln Loud is the middle child and sometimes feels like he needs more attention.
  • Minor Injury Overreaction: Lincoln's reaction to getting a red throbbing in his fist, which initiates the plot.
  • Mood Motif: Guy Moon from The Fairly OddParents:
    • Whimsically Thematic Retro for Guy Moon's score, retro fifties (including some of the cues re-used from The Fairly OddParents).
  • Most Wonderful Sound:
    • A lightsaber igniting is a movie sound in Star Wars.
    • Every sound a lightsaber makes.
    • Lasers from X-wing ships.
    • The lightcycles from TRON
    • The KCHA-doooOOOOO...sound that Poké Balls make in the Pokémon anime series.
    • K.I.T.T. had its unique engine sound and of course the scanner SFX in Knight Rider.
  • The Movie: Serves as the first and second seasons of The Loud House TV show.
  • Mr. Fixit: Lana is a Miss Fixit. She likes fixing cars, toilets, sinks, TVs, and more things besides.
  • My Life Flashed Before My Eyes: Lincoln and Clyde experience this when they take a whiff of Lily's stinky diaper. In the case of Clyde, he sees Lincoln's.
  • My Eyes Are Up Here: A G-rated version occurs as Addie Singer sees Lincoln holding one of the parts for the orange toy car, she says "Linky, my eyes are so up here. See?".
  • New Neighbors As The Plot Demands: The Singer family (Addie Singer, Ben Singer, Jeff Singer and Sue Singer, and Nancy the Dog), and Addie's best friends Geena Fabiano and Zack Carter-Schwartz from Unfabulous become the Louds' new family members in this movie, and it’s their presence that kicks off.
  • Nice Guy: Lincoln is a friendly boy who is willing to sacrifice his own happiness for his sisters.
  • Nice Mean And In Between:
    • We have the Loud siblings; Leni, Luna, Lincoln, Lana, and Lily (nice), Lori, Lynn and Lola (mean), Luan, Lucy and Lisa (in-between).
    • A more closer and direct example would be with the middle Loud children; Lincoln is a smart friendly boy who loves his family (nice), Lynn is a Jerk Jock with a Heart of Gold who loves rough housing others (mean) and Lucy is a distant goth girl who is in-between.
  • Nightmare Face: Lola has one when the remainder of the bet appears to be down to her and Lincoln, but Rita and Lynn Sr. warned Lola, who wears makeup.
  • Nightmare Sequence: Lincoln has this in which he and Clyde suddenly outrunned by charging Moose, bees, bears, drowning by a mudslide, and he (except Clyde, who runs away) accidentally crushed by a robot, which looks like Chandler.
  • Nobody Calls Me "Chicken"!: A shout-out to the Back to the Future example above, where Hank and Hawk calls Lincoln "chicken".
Lincoln: "What did you call me?"
  • Nosebleed: Besides his habit of doing this in front of Lori, Clyde gets a non-reactionary nosebleed after getting hit with Lynn's stray frisbee.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Lynn Sr. and Rita are no longer The Faceless.
  • No Holds Barred Beatdown:
    • The Loud siblings frequently get involved in starting a Big Ball of Violence with each other.
    • Chandler, Hank and Hawk give Lincoln this. They given the bruises and a nasty black-eye Lincoln gets, it must have been pretty painful and bad things would happen.
  • No Social Skills: Lisa's problem.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Lucy Loud has a very bad habit of doing this.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • This is Lincoln's reaction when he thought no one told him that he had peanut butter breath.
    • The entire family when they realize that the entire plot was all an epic prank masterminded by Luan.
    • After learning directly from Ronnie Anne herself that Lincoln kept waiting outside her house to get a package for her, Clyde and the others promptly chase down the bus they forced him onto.
    • Lincoln's reaction when he sees Luan's massive collection of embarrassing footage of him over the years.
    • A Shout-Out to the Hercules example, Lincoln and Clyde when the moose starts growling as he wakes up in the woods at the forest:
Lincoln Loud: [sees the moose] That doesn't sound good. [Moose gets up in anger] DEFINITELY NOT GOOD! [They proceed to scream in panic and run away from the charging moose, climbing a tree for safety in the process]
  • Ominous Pipe Organ: Whenever Lucy Loud jump scares her siblings, either a crow caws or a short pipe organ chord plays.
  • One-Note Cook: Lynn Sr. really isn't a bad cook and has been shown to be very talented and creative when it comes to the dishes that he makes for his family.
  • The One Guy: Lincoln is the only boy of in a family full of girls.
  • Opening Shout Out:
    • The "Angela Anaconda-style" sequence has the theme song to Unfabulous with the Louds, Cliff, Charles, Geo and Walt, Clyde, Ronnie Anne, Bobby and the Casagrandes as Addie Singer with her friends and family does in a same fashion. The same sequence also ends with Lincoln reading an Ace Savvy comic book while sitting on the show's logo, Lisa pushes the word "The Louds' First Movie" on the left and dashes off, Charles grabs Luna's guitar as Luna chases after, and Lily toddling past the show's logo.
    • When the siblings fight, and Lynn Sr. asks if everything is okay in the kitchen, they stop fighting and stand in their positions similar to the "one boy ten girls" part of the intro.
    • The montage of the Louds settling into their life in Loud house following Lincoln's coronation is set to the show's theme song, and ends with Lily toddling past the show's logo.
  • Orange/Blue Contrast:
    • The main character, Lincoln, is normally wearing an orange Polo shirt with a pair of blue jeans.
    • He also has this dynamic with his best friend, Clyde, who has blue stripes on his shirt.
  • Orbital Shot: The camera pans around as Lincoln walks around the town with his sisters.
  • Origin Story: Via flashback, it's revealed how Luna became a rocker. Appropriately enough, it was at a Mick Swagger concert.
  • The Other Darrin: Collin Dean as the voice of Lincoln from this movie.
  • Overly Long Gag: Lynn Sr.'s cowbell antics.
  • Pain-Powered Leap: Lincoln has one when he would get his butt prickled by the cactus, causing him to jump straight towards to the Loud House and heads towards Lynn's bike.
  • Pants-Pulling Prank:
    • The montage of pranks Lincoln suffers from a bully (who is to be Chandler) includes a scene where his pants are pulled down while he's at his locker.
    • Lynn does when she pants Lincoln.
    • One of Lincoln's concerns about visiting Ronnie Anne in her new home in Great Lakes City is that she'll depants him.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Mick Swagger's disguise is a bit obvious.
  • Parachute in a Tree: Pop Pop ends up in a tree after his parachute jump.
  • Parental Bonus: "Yippie-ki-yay, you Hazeltucky freaks!"
  • Parental Title Characterization:
    • Lisa calls her parents "Mother" and "Father" because she's very serious and tends to use formal terminology.
    • Liam calls his father "Pa" because he lives in a farm, so he uses stereotypical "country bumpkin" slang.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Lynn Loud Jr. is probably the most prominent example of this trope in animation of The New '10s. She's played on teams for football, lacrosse, ice hockey, baseball, basketball, and roller derby, and has won championship games in all of them (except basketball). She even has various pre-game rituals for good luck. Additionally, she's a huge fan of Mexican wrestling and loves practicing it herself, and has also stated that she's waiting for air hockey to become recognized as an Olympic sport. Unusually for a female character, she's a Dumb Jock and also a bit of a Jerk Jock (she's quick to turn anything into a competition or use physical force to get her way), though she's still portrayed as sympathetically as the rest of her siblings.
  • Perpetual Frowner:
    • Lucy is definitely this, but knowing her, what did you expect? She's a goth girl, after all. She can be happy on several occasions, though.
    • Lisa is also usually seen frowning whenever she appears on-screen. Granted though, she is among the more mature Loud siblings. However, she can also be very happy, albeit more often than Lucy.
    • Walt nearly always has an angry expression.
  • Pie In The Face: Luan Loud, being a comedian, is fond of using this, which is demonstrated where she tries to pie Lincoln but he dodges.
  • The Pig-Pen: Lana Loud loves living the gross life, whether it's playing in mud or rummaging through garbage. In stark contrast, her twin sister Lola is obsessed with beauty and cleanliness.
  • Pimped-Out Car: All the cars in the The Fast and the Furious series.
  • Pink Girl Blue Boy: Lynn Loud Sr. wears a teal blue sweater, while his wife Rita wears a salmon pink blouse.
  • Pinned to the Ground:
    • In a flashback, during a lucha libre match as Lynn Jr. throws Lincoln onto the ground and pins him down with her fists on his stomach before Lynn Sr. and Rita entering Lincoln's room.
      • The commentary on the Blu-Ray and DVD releases has Lincoln Loud, Lori Loud, Leni Loud, Luna Loud, Luan Loud, Lynn Loud Jr., Lucy Loud, Lana Loud, Lola Loud, Lisa Loud, Lily Loud, Lynn Loud Sr., Rita Loud, Clyde McBride, Zach Gurdie, Rusty Spokes, Liam Hunnicutt, Girl Jordan, Ronnie Anne, Bobby, Maria and the Casagrandes, and Ronnie Anne's friends winced while Cliff, Charles, Geo, Walt, Lalo, Sergio and Nancy the Dog shuddered, Addie Singer, Ben Singer, Jeff Singer, Sue Singer, Geena Fabiano and Zack Carter-Schwartz chuckled also while watching the movie.
Lynn Sr.: (turned to Lynn and scolded her while Addie Singer grabs Lincoln, scared at the thought) LJ, what did we say about wrestling your siblings, especially when you go way over the top?!
Lynn: (winces as she turned to Lincoln) Sorry about that, bro.
        Lincoln: Apology accepted.
    • Lincoln Loud is pinned down by Addie Singer when she pushes him to the ground.
      • The commentary on the Blu-Ray and DVD releases has Lori Loud, Leni Loud, Luna Loud, Luan Loud, Lynn Loud Jr., Lucy Loud, Lana Loud, Lola Loud, Lisa Loud, Lily Loud, Lynn Loud Sr., Rita Loud, Clyde McBride, Zach Gurdie, Rusty Spokes, Liam Hunnicutt, Girl Jordan, Ronnie Anne, Bobby, Maria and the Casagrandes, and Ronnie Anne's friends, the Mortician's Club laughed while Cliff, Charles, Geo, Walt, Lalo, Sergio and Nancy the Dog shrugged, Addie Singer, Ben Singer, Jeff Singer, Sue Singer, Geena Fabiano and Zack Carter-Schwartz chuckled as Lincoln Loud blushed while watching the movie.
Addie Singer: (putting her hand on Lincoln's shoulder) Don't worry, Lincoln. Ever since Ben's Bar Mitzvah, he's been trying to make everything a right of passage.
Lincoln Loud: Oh! You've gotta a point.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Lynn Loud is roughly the middle kid when it comes to height out of Lincoln's 10 sisters. She's the same height as Lincoln who's 11. She's also one of the physically strongest out of all of them the closest second being the eldest Lori. She's also the most gifted athlete in the family, and is strong enough to lift Leni, the second-eldest Loud sibling.
  • Playing Card Motifs: Ace Savvy and One-Eyed Jack are themed after playing cards, with Ace having a signature pose of showing out a deck of cards.
  • Plot Allergy: Lana is allergic to rhubarb.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The movie's title is a pun on Doug's 1st Movie and Pokémon: The First Movie.
  • Post-Nightmare Comfort: Lincoln screams after having had a nightmare about the charging moose, bees, and bears in the woods, and a robot that looks like Chandler. All of his sisters, Lynn Sr. and Rita, Addie Singer, Ben Singer, Jeff Singer and Sue Singer, Geena Fabiano and Zack Carter-Schwartz run in and Lincoln's sisters ask if he's okay, Addie comforts Lincoln.
  • Potty Emergency:
    • The younger sisters have these after drinking their Flippees.
    • Lana has one at some point, but is ambushed by Luna, who was taking a shower in the bathroom.
  • Potty Procrastination:
    • Lincoln says that having such a crowded house and only one bathroom can be difficult: "Especially when you wait till the very last second to go!"
    • Lynn has a superstition that you must not poop before a sports game. This often leads to her and her teammates deciding it's "time for number two" after the games.
  • The Power of Rock: Luna's comic counterpart uses music as a weapon.
  • The Prankster: Luan's defining trait, which gets to a point in which even the parents are victims of her pranks.
  • Precocious Crush:
    • Lincoln Loud's best friend, Clyde McBride, had a crush on Lincoln's oldest sister, Lori, who is six years older than Clyde and has explicitly made it clear that she's not interested in him, especially since she already has a boyfriend in Bobby Santiago.
    • 8-year-old Carl Casagrande, who is one of Bobby's cousins, also has a crush on Lori.
    • 13-year-old Addie Singer (Emma Roberts) from Unfabulous, who totally has a crush on 11-year-old Lincoln Loud (Collin Dean). She likes the kid well enough.
  • Princesses Prefer Pink: While not a real princess, Lola often pretends to be one, and she wears a pink dress.
  • Princess Phase: Lola seems to be going through one; she's nearly always dressed as a princess.
  • Produce Pelting: In a flashback to "Back Out There": Lincoln and Hattie get pelted with snacks by the audience in the cinema when Hattie spoils the ending of the movie.
  • Product Placement:
    • The VHS tapes of every movies released by Walt Disney Home Video, as well with Paramount Home Entertainment (mostly Nickelodeon shows and feature films), DreamWorks Home Entertainment, Universal Home Entertainment, Warner Home Video, and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
    • Lincoln and Clyde play a Need for Speed: Underground 1 and 2 video games for the Xbox console in the Loud House.
  • Prone to Tears: Several characters have a tendency to cry at the drop of a hat:
    • Lori Loud is the firstborn of the Loud children, but she has a tendency to dissolve into Inelegant Blubbering when she's lonely, or when she's simply had a bad day.
    • Lily Loud is a Cheerful Child, but there are times when she gets upset and cries. She can even make herself cry on command. Justified in her case, as she is a baby.
    • Lynn Loud Sr., the father of the Loud children, is a male example that isn't always played for laughs. As a matter of fact, it is implied that this trope runs in the family, as his father Leonard is just as prone to tears as he is, and it is implied that Lori got this trait from Lynn Sr. in turn.
    • Bobby Santiago, Lori's boyfriend, is a Kindhearted Simpleton, and thus is also a male example that isn't always played for laughs.
    • Tía Frida also cries easily, often bordering on Ocular Gushers.
  • Prone to Vomiting: Downplayed for Lincoln. He gags a lot when he's grossed out but doesn't generally vomit unless he's riding on the teacup ride (even though more extreme rides don't seem to bother him) or if he swallows something weird (even if it wouldn't generally make someone sick, like when he ate a dusty bagel).
  • Property Line: Mr. Grouse keeps everything that lands on his property.
  • Pun:
    • Luan often makes puns.
    • Luan calls Mr. Coconuts's delivery "wooden".
    • The second Zombie Bran commercial advertises the new “Raisin the Dead” flavor.
    • Lynn Sr. refers to his lasagna as "Lynn-sagna."
  • Pungeon Master: Luan frequently makes puns.
  • Punny Name:
    • Gil deLily (gild the lily).
    • Sharon DeMonet.
  • Quaking With Fear: Any Loud siblings (especially Lincoln, save for Lucy)
  • Race Against the Clock: When Pop Pop leaves Sunset Canyon, Lincoln has until his curfew time to return him otherwise he'll be evicted.
  • Raiders of the Lost Parody: Lincoln has a fantasy sequence of him recreating the first scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark straight down to the original score (in the show's typical Imagine Spot style, the "idol" is actually the iconic treasure). For instance, Lincoln wears an outfit of Indy, later on in the movie.
  • Rearrange the Song:
    • The theme tune has several different permutations, some of which double as Leitmotifs for some characters.
    • The all piano version of the tune is a Homage to Peanuts.
  • Recycled Animation:
    • The scene of everyone running downstairs is almost identical to the one in "The Sweet Spot", with the biggest difference being Lola using her princess car.
    • The stills of Luna rocking out are from "No Guts, No Glori".
    • The scenes of the siblings fighting each other and then stopping to reassure Lynn Sr. that everything is fine recycle the battling shot from "Slice of Life" and the "One boy, 10 girls" shot from the theme song.

Development[]

  • The Loud House: The First Movie was based on the show created by Chris Savino for Nickelodeon. Savino based the series on his own experiences growing up in a large family. Newspaper comic strips are also influences on the show's background art.
  • Talks about making The Loud House into a feature film existed since the beginning of the series. Production on The Loud House: The Louds' First Movie started a year later in November 2016.

Filming Locations[]

Animation[]

  • The Loud House: The Louds' First Movie's animation style was difficult to decide. The animators at Nickelodeon Animation Studios for The Loud Family, Clyde, Harold and Howard McBride, Mr. Grouse, Flip, Mrs. Johnson, Lincoln's Classmates, the people of Royal Woods and Great Lakes City, Bobby, Ronnie Anne and The Casagrandes, and the rest of the characters, skimmed through the same animation style as in the Nickelodeon animated television series The Loud House. The animation for the film is heavily based on The Loud House that were shown, which is evident from The Louds, The McBrides, Mr. Grouse, Flip, Mrs. Johnson, Lincoln's Classmates, the people of Royal Woods and Great Lakes City, Bobby, Ronnie Anne and The Casagrandes' facial expressions and clothing colors. One of the Loud siblings has a specific color which identifies them: Lori - Light blue; Leni - deafoam green; Luna - Purple; Luan - Yellow; Lynn Jr. - Red; Lincoln - Orange; Lucy - Black; Lana - Mint Green; Lola - Pink; Lisa - Green; and Lily. - Violet. The animators of the film was supposed that Rita and Lynn Sr.'s faces were never completely shown and they were usually seen from the chin down in some season 1 episodes and the Season 2 episodes "Brawl in the Family" and "Making the Grade", but the team eventually settled with Lynn Sr. and Rita's faces were revealed for the first time, and they were shown openly ever since in "11 Louds a Leapin'". The animation style was exactly the same as in the first three seasons of the series, as well as the art styles from The Loud House (2016-Present) and The Casagrandes (2019-2022).
  • Like the television series, the film was animated by Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California, USA. The film was produced in a widescreen 1.85:1 aspect ratio, to distinguish it from the look of the television series, and colored with the largest palette the animators had ever had available to them. A lot of the animation was produced using Wacom Cintiq tablets, which allowed images to be drawn directly onto a computer monitor to facilitate production. The animation for The Loud House: The Louds' First Movie was done by Jam Filled Entertainment in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, with the former having provided the animation for the television series, with additional animation work by Digital eMation in Seoul, South Korea (which worked on the animation for Martin Mystery, Team Galaxy, Totally Spies!, The Amazing Spiez!, Totally Spies! The Movie, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Evil Con Carne, Robotboy, Grim & Evil, Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, Underfist: Halloween Bash, Time Squad, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Oggy and the Cockroaches, Scooby-Doo! Let's Be Heroes, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, The Secret Saturdays, Dawn of the Croods, The LeBrons, and Famous 5: On the Case), Mercury Filmworks in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (which worked on the animation for Mickey Mouse (2013), Team Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome!: The Movie, Ruby Gloom, The Little Bear Movie, Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil, Weird Years, The Legend of Frosty the Snowman, Dark Oracle, World of Quest, Class of the Titans, Ned's Newt, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Doodlebops Rockin’ Road Show, Fish Hooks, Toot and Puddle, 6Teen, Undergrads, What About Mimi?, Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs, The New Woody Woodpecker Show, Fish Hooks, Joseph: King of Dreams, Yvon of the Yukon, Atomic Puppet, Gerald McBoing-Boing (2005 TV Series), D'Myna Leagues, Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, Jimmy Two-Shoes, and Grossology), Bardel Entertainment in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (which worked on the animation for Titan A.E., Silverwing, Dragons: Fire & Ice and Dragons II: The Metal Ages, Viva Piñata, Chaotic, Edgar & Ellen, The Christmas Orange, Zeke's Pad, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Rainbow Butterfly Unicorn Kitty, Pearlie, Rescue Heroes, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Project GeeKeR, The Road to El Dorado, Seven Little Monsters, Space Jam, Flying Rhino Junior High, Angry Birds Blues, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Eight Crazy Nights, Mother Up!, Mack and Moxy, Planet Sheen, Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012), Anastasia, Monsters vs. Aliens (2013), The Buzz on Maggie, ¡Mucha Lucha!, The Pink Panther (1993), Marco Polo: Return to Xanadu, Wubbzy's Big Movie!, Teen Titans Go!, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Fanboy & Chum Chum, and Rick and Morty), Snipple Animation Studios in Quezon City, Philippines (which worked on the animation for New Looney Tunes/Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, Big Hero 6: The Series, Ducktales (2017 TV Series), Dude, That's My Ghost!, Unikitty!, Bunnicula, Dora and Friends: Into the City!, Wacky Races, Geronimo Stilton, Right Now Kapow, Nerds and Monsters), and Yeson Animation Studios in Seoul, South Korea (which worked on the animation for The Fairly OddParents). The animation was hand-drawn on paper, which was then digitally composited and painted with digital ink and paint. The animators used Toon Boom's upgraded software, Toon Boom Harmony, the traditional animation studio software that can take character models and composite them into 2D, it helps to create limbs on characters such as, hair, head, arms, legs and body to have characters move automatically, it helps the designers and artists to give the animation a right layout. The animators worked semi-digitally; pencil-drawn poses would be composited into layouts in Adobe Photoshop. As with the television series, the storyboarding, character designs, background layout, general animation, and animatic parts of production, were done at Nickelodeon's Burbank animation studio in America while both Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Jam Filled Entertainment, Digital eMation, Bardel Entertainment, Inc., Mercury Filmworks, Snipple Animation Studios, and Yeson Animation Studios worked together on the animation work with additional scenes animated at Jam Filled Entertainment in Canada and clean-up work done at Nickelodeon's main Burbank studio. Mikey Munroe, Bunsen the Beast, Amanda Killman, Beverly, Darcy and Commander Cone from Bunsen Is a Beast, Dudley Puppy, Kitty Katswell, Keswick, Chief Herbert Dumbrowski, and other characters from T.U.F.F. Puppy was done by Billionfold, Inc. with 2D hand-drawn animation by Yeson Entertainment, and animated by Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Mr. Blik, Gordon and Waffle from Catscratch was done in 2D traditional hand-drawn animation by Rough Draft Korea Co., Ltd., and animated by Nickelodeon Animation Studios.

Animation notes[]

  • The show's animation style has been inspired by various newspaper comics:
    • The backgrounds are more crudely styled than those of the characters, and the detailing of paper can be seen.
      • Unlike the television series, certain things in the background move, such as the flag at Royal Woods Elementary School.
  • Occasionally, some characters are drawn with their eyebrows floating above their eyes, or partially detached from their head.
  • Most characters have white eyes with black pupils instead of colored eyes, some have dot eyes. In addition, when a character's eyes are closed, the lids are usually shadowed in a darker color than their skin, the exception is if they wear eyeshadow (such as Lori or Luna), or if they have dot eyes (though in the case of dot-eyed characters that wear glasses, their eyelids are usually shown to be a darker color than the lenses of their glasses). However, in very few cases, eye colors are shown (ex. Lola, Lincoln). Currently, the only characters to have their eye colors consistently shown are two of Leni's friends from "Sound of Silence".
  • Characters only have four fingers on each hand and four toes on each foot.
  • According to Chris Savino, the more feminine a female character is, the higher number of eyelashes they'll have. Because Leni, Lola and Lily are the most feminine members of the Loud family, they're the only ones with three pairs of eyelashes instead of two.

Visual Effects[]

  • As with the television series, the film combines traditional animation and used the majority of the visual effects shots and computer-generated imagery (CGI), which was done by Nickelodeon Digital Animation Studios In Burbank, California, who contributed a total of many shots. Ernest Chan, the CG artist at Nickelodeon Animation Studios began animating the objects, the robots (including Chandler McCann's robot), and the vehicles, which they created through the use of 3D computer graphics software, Newtek's LightWave 3D.

Character Designs[]

  • Todd Oman, Gordon Hammond, Ilana Morgan Schwartz, Justin Joseph Murphy, Katherine Ketchum and the others at Nickelodeon Animation Studios designed for the character animators from The Loud House.

Music[]

  • Composer Doug Rockwell, who has worked on the music for The Loud House since its inception, composed the film's music score, and composer Guy Moon, who has worked on the music for The Fairly OddParents, also composed the music for the movie. For the sequence, Jam Filled tried to push the look for the animation and movement of the characters in a more cinematic direction, while still fitting the tone of the series.

Sound Effects[]

  • The original lightsaber sound effects for the Star Wars franchise was designed by Ben Burtt at Skywalker Sound.
  • During post-production, the sound design work was done at Advantage Audio, Inc. (The Fairly OddParents) and Boom Box Post in Burbank, California, where the sound effects were mixed with the music score. Like the series, Jeff Shiffman and Tess Fournier, the sound editors at Boom Box Post recording many sound effects for the movie, while Robert Duran, the sound designer from The Fairly OddParents. He used the same sound effects for the wish granting, and other cartoony sound effects throughout the movie. Some effects will be cartoony, while others will sound a bit more realistic.
