Tom the Hand 6 is a 2022 American live-action/computer-animated adventure film based on the television series, Tom the Hand created by Ted V. Miller and Tom H. Zwick and produced by Sony Pictures Animation and Movie Land Animation Studios. A sequel to Tom the Hand 5, the film was directed by Bret Haaland and Micah Gunnell with a screenwriter of Micah Gunnell and Bret Haaland and stars the voices of Brian Hull, Jim Carrey, Jimmy Wong, Will Ferrell, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Lizzie Waterworth, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Josh Gad, Jamie Chung, Jon Lee, Ryan Potter, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jack Black.

Tom the Hand 6 premiered in Las Vegas on November 4, 2022, and was released on November 18, 2022, by Sony Pictures Releasing, under its Columbia Pictures label. The film received positive reviews from critics for its runtime, visual effects, pacing and casts. The film grossed $587.7 million worldwide on its $80 million budget. A sequel, Tom the Hand 7 is scheduled to be released on December 29, 2023, while the short film, Birds: A Tom the Hand Short, was released on December 15, 2023 in front of JH Friends Collection: The Movie.

Visual effects

Moving Picture Company (MPC) and Movie Land Digital Production Services (MLDPS) will be the collaborators of the Tom the Hand installments, after previously worked on all of its predecessor, with a help from Fortiche and Base FX, who was collaborated with Sony Pictures Animation on Wish Dragon.

Music

Henry Jackman returned to composed the film's music score, while Skywalker Sound returned to record the sound services. The soundtrack album was released on November 15, 2022 by RCA Records, while the score album was released the same day by Sony Classical Records.

Release

Tom the Hand 6 had its world premiere in Las Vegas on November 4, 2022, and was released on November 18, 2022, by Sony Pictures Releasing, under its Columbia Pictures label. It was initially set to be released in the United States on December 16, 2022, before being moved up to November 18.

The film was released for VOD platforms on December 21, 2022 and on Netflix on January 20, 2023, followed by the DVD, Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray on March 14, 2023, by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, 90% of 100 critics gave the film a positive review, with an average rating of 8.8/10. Using a weighted average calculator, Metacritic assigned the film a score of 79 out of 100, based on 90 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.
